Vocalek, this is a golden opportunity for someone from CASAA to contact Dr Marewa Glover (Director of Auckland University Centre for Tobacco Control Research). As you know she will be conducting a study to see if e-cigs really work in helping people quit smoking. I think the researchers need to be aware that one of the reasons e-cigs work is because people can choose the strength of nicotine that best suits their needs. If subjects in the test don't have this choice, the results would probably be different than if they did. It could make a huge difference. Maybe something like an 80% quit rate compared to a 30% quit rate. And a choice of flavors and e-cigs types. One size does not fit all, and it would be disappointing to see the media report poor success rates from the study.
And Dr. Murray Laugesen has worked with Dr. Thomas Eissenberg recently.
So I would think Dr. Laugesen is familiar with the lessons that Dr. Eissenberg learned here on this forum.
And being in New Zealand, and working in the field she does, she might know Dr. Laugesen.
If so, hopefully she understands the importance of people learning how to use electronic cigarettes.
But if anyone were to contact her, they might want to remind her of Dr. Eissenberg's work, just in case.
