Extremely Hard Pull on my KR8

As stated, I have a KR8 (2 batteries- 1 silver,1 black) and the silver one is giving me some real trouble. One night after charging it, I screwed on a carto and after taking a couple of puffs to get the atty started, I realized nothing was happening. I unscrewed and screwed it back on all the way and tried again and still nothing. It wasn't until I took the strongest pull possible that it activated the battery. Now, I checked my carto for any possible clogs, and cleaned the battery threads to be sure it wasn't a connection issue, but neither solution worked.

The only way I've been able to get it to work is to cover the air holes between the carto and the battery to restrict air flow to the end of the battery. Last night, lo and behold, after vaping a bit the aforementioned way, it started acting normal again.

I'm pretty new to the pv scene, so I have no idea what it could be and I wasn't able to find a related thread elsewhere in the forum.

Any help would be GREATLY appreciated.

Hold the cart in your hand, using a flat tip screwdriver look at the slot in the part that mates up with the batt. Place the screwdriver in the slot and turn just a little counter clockwise and see if that helps

Did you clean out the air holes on the batts with a needle?or check and see if the paper is covering the air slots on the bottom edge of the batt?

Its definitely not something with the carto since I just tried the same ones on my other battery and it worked just fine. and I tried the screwdriver thing, it didn't really seem to move the part so I'm not too sure about that one. Weird thing is, its working a little better right now, but I still have to give it a decent pull to get it to work. GRRR haha, but thanks for the advice.

Thanks for the question & thanks to everyone who responded... Something to look for... seems to be a ton of batteries that are really bad with the new ones coming soon... Hmmm...

Anyhow, try sucking on just the battery... be SURE to not get it wet!

It will not be easy to suck on it, but you should be able to get the light to turn on pretty easily! If not, I'd try cleaning the battery... if it is clean, then try backing off the cartomizer until it is just barely on there! If you the pull is easy, then it's the cartomizers threads allowing it to seat & seal too much (you need air flow for transfer & this allows some through the threads & the small holes in the battery if it's an 808 series, or the cartomizer on a 501 or similar.

Some carts fit better than others... the threads are so short, just a tiny bit of turn on the threads of either battery or cartomizer can make a HUGE difference on how it works & vapor too.

Once you get it down, you'll be a pro at it in no time. It took me a while to even figure this out. Now it's just automatic - too hard to inhale, I back it off until it's just right & then it stays that way.

If it doesn't respond to anything in this thread, I'd take it back, as it seems it's defective.

Let us know! A local store here has been pretty bad about getting bad batteries. A friend's caught on fire. Thankfully she was home! Her house would have burned to the ground if she hadn't been!

Time to get some better batteries I think! 2 of mine were fine, one went out. Now the replacement & another one are acting up. The one that needed replacing before got wet inside from a cartomizer that I'd pulled the caps off of & the pin was wet. I figure the design would keep any liquids out of the valve & the battery case - WRONG!

Time to get on the mods forum to see how to keep the battery from getting wet... A single check valve added it seems would do the job... how silly to have a design where your battery can clearly be kept on an open circuit that is made to heat something???

It seems like such an easy fix!!!
