My name is Andy I have been vaping for three years now and been smoke free.I do suffer from skin complaint psoriasis , but never noticed any worsening of this problem until recently even though I have been mixing my own e juice from scratch for the last two years.
Recently I have noticed my face has been breaking out in a red rash in other words my psoriasis has got worse , I previously mixed 50/50 pg vg , but as I have researched a lot of people have allergies to pg and even though you can be vaping for considerable time and not show any effects to being allergic then you break out with a rash because over time pg builds up in the body and you can have a eruption to skin problems.
I have just started making a 100% vg mix and that includes a vg base liquid with 12mg nicotine with 1% water to see if this helps sort my problem.
I know there will be other people that have skin flare ups to through vaping so I will keep you posted with my switching to vg vaping and let you know how I get on if my problem persists , hoping it is the pg if not I will be looking at whether I.m allergic to vg or the flavour I use btw all the ingredients I mix are pharmaceutical and made in the UK and just for my own use.....Please wish me luck :)

Hi dc and thank you for wishing me luck , and one reason I have found through research is that a lot of people suffer with allergies from pg in e cigs that's why like you know I.m trying vg mix but I dont know if your aware pg does de hydrate you so I think that if your not drinking enough fluids (water ) it wont be helping your problem ...drink plenty of water or change to a more pro vg mix...its ok to alter mine as I mix my own but I do know getting hold of more pro vg if your buying over the counter can be difficult...GOOD LUCK :)

You will find a large number of people here that have pg sensitivities. So sorry you are having a flare up. Vaping can also cause dehydration which I am sure you have already read about but that I think, can also add to skin issues. I would definitely try a vg juice and see if the problem is resolved but I would also get in touch with your dermatologist is it persists. Good luck to you. Let us know how you are doing and what works that helps. It could also help many others here. Thank you for posting this question.

Sorry to hear about the rash. :( I hope the switch to VG-only clears it up. And if not, hopefully trying PG instead will.

I'll be watching this thread to hear what happens. Seems how it can take time to eventually show up I think it's great that you're letting other people know what will be happening to you. Wishing you luck and a speedy recovery!

Hi all and thanks for your kind words of concern , I dont have and doubts I will beat this problem , ive been vaping 100% vg for the second day now and this includes vg base too with water based flavour .
In reply to you Drunkenbatman , thinking about what you said ...yes I have been changing my flavours because as you know vaping same flavour continuously our pallets become used to the flavour , I use totally wicked flavour concentrate , and I was informed by the supplier their flavours are water based so I didnt think that would be the problem , but thanks for bringing that to the fore .I.m hoping switching to 100% vg will sort the problem out , I mean it's the second day now on this mix and the rash on my face doesnt seem as bad , I was informed by another member on here that a friend of his had exact same problem as myself and it took him 4 days for all the pg to go out of his system and it cleared completely , I am thinking it has to be the pg I.m allergic to as once b4 I started mixing my own juice I bought a botte of pre mix juice and looking back my face was bad then so here is hoping I will be ok....I dont want to stop vaping as I love it and never want to go back to smoking analogue cigerettes , as I have been vaping now for 3 years now and mixing my own e juice for 2 years and also I always drink between 2 and 3 litres of water a day to avoid de hydration.....One again thanks for your imput guys and here is hoping by the end of this week the dreaded rash will be gone :)

Everybody is different and not all people have allergies to e juice ingredients , but I obviously have and I am determined through elimination I will find the answer , we all read these forums to learn and give advice to others SO WE ALL BENEFIT , and if I come up with the answer as to why I am getting these allergic symptoms and share how I put it right others may benefit too :)

Hey mate!

You'll really do yourself a favor if you're methodical about it. I'm not saying it's not PG, but I will say PG-allergies are often the vaping equivalent of going gluten-free, when it's often more likely a flavoring involved, and someone will switch to all-VG with a new company using a different flavor and go "Oh, it was the PG!" :)

Thing is, everyone is different. There are some who are intolerant to PG, and there are some who intolerant to VG, then some where it just doesn't fraking matter:D I found high PG juice harsh and cause minor throat irritation, and finally found my true Vape at stawberryHill 80-70% VG.

That's the one thing I do love about DIY mixing, all the Variables are known, so is easy to dial ones juice into the sweet Spot.:D Make sure and look at the carrier base of your flavor extract. Know some sites like Wizard Labs carry Non-PG Flavorings, and you can get the nic base in a VG carrier also.

Vape long and Prosper.!!!

I feel like this happened to me last year. I was just hanging out with my roommates and my arms broke out in a rash. I (obviously) freaked out and ran to the bathroom and starting cleaning my arms with soap (as if it would help, HA!). Until reading your post I had never thought it could have been from PG, but looking back at the situation, nothing else could have caused my arms to break out like that.

Daniel I.m very sorry to hear about that hope you have it under control now .As I said earlier I have tried pg mixes and 100% vg mixes neither has helped so now I.m looking at the flavour I am adding and have decided to try avoiding the acidic fruit types and ive just done a menthol mix to see how I go on with that. ...iits all down to elimination but I.m determined to get there :)

Not to sound impersonal, but could you define the "look" of the rash? For instance, I have been vaping for over 18 months now. I originally started with 70/30 PV, but the mixture was too brutal on my throat. Even a 50/50 mix tends to take a toll after extended stints. So much so, in fact, that I switched to a 70/30 VP mix, but one flavor is 100% VG. However, I have developed a Fu Manchu rash on my face, self-named as it resembles the mustache grooming movement. A dermatologist would be a lovely idea, but doctors here in the states are virtually all idiots, at least most of the ones I run into... So I am wondering if it might be a result of the vape, although a recent allergy test showed negative to everything they tested - which only truly means anything to doctors as I am clueless as to what all was tested. Hence my inquiry...

You seem to have all of the vape-related possible variables nailed down and are on a good regimen to find out if it is one of those and which if so. I didn't see one variable being discussed, though. I also have psoriasis. Is it possible that it's a psoriasis flare-up?

I'm not saying that it isn't vape-related, just asking about the possible psoriasis connection.
