.... It's a matter of ethics, morals, and common sense--not regulation, business, or otherwise.
.

Precisely. How would you feel if you sold an e-cig to someone underage on accident who never smoked before? Now they have a nicotine addiction. It may be because they lied, but at the same time it's because they used an electronic cigarette.

Same thing for analogs, I understand, but none the less as businessmen we need to be responsible and try to minimize our effect on youth and non-smokers.

There is no absolute guarantee that some wily underage kid is going to get his or her hands on something they're not supposed to.

Hey, NOBODY here is advocating advertising or selling to minors. Quite the opposite! On the flipside, restricting ALL advertising of the ecig is illogical. Even tobacco is advertised in some venues. Why not advertise them under certain reasonable restrictions?

Even further, I would support some general regulation of e-cig fluid to ensure quality and consistency. I would also support laws restricting the sale to adults. That just makes sense.

And porn is not in the same category. Watching porn is by far one of the best examples of a victimless crime (unless you claim to be Ted Bundy). Whereas, smoking and drinking usually involve victims in one way shape or form (i.e. MADD).

Also, you are talking about websites where they do not require a credit card for age verification. So that's null & void in whatever their claim in their policy to be.

Do you get XM or Sirius satellite radio? Every single commercial break on the news and entertainment channels they play an advertisement for electronic cigarettes. Every ten minutes just about. I should be ashamed that my 5 and 7-year old children were subjected to that filth! They could be led down that evil road to smoking, right? Nobody came out of the radio to ask for their ID. But an ad on Facebook specifically directed to adults over 21....that's not ok? But sure, that's their business right--but some consistency should be in order.

One tip: Avoid using legal terms of art like "null and void" if you are not a contract attorney. (Yes, I am one).

Actually, no, it's not as simple as that. Of course no one here or anywhere advocates advertising e-cigs to children! Facebook advertising has a built-in voluntary restriction, which was part of my proposed banner ad, to restrict advertising to certain age groups--the proposed ad would only appear for adult registered Facebook users over the age of 21. No children.

Perhaps posting regular comments on your Facebook "Wall" with links to various positive articles (no ads)...
I do this (along with Twitter "tweets" and MySpace "Status" & "Bulletins") any time I find something new that is positive about ecigs... and I'm happy to say that I have had more to post over the past week or so which means there is more coming out! Growing trend maybe??? :)

I guess this leech 8-o .... I mean "contract attorney" not only wants to dull down my verbal capacity by refraining from such words as "null & void", but also cannot read that we already established that minors purposely change their age for various intentions of their own. I'm a Molecular Biology graduate doing my Master's and applying next fall for M.D. or D.O. school. Can I advise you to not use the word "nicotine" or its IUPAC name (3-[(2S)-1-methylpyrrolidin-2-yl]pyridine)? I doubt you've taken Organic Chemistry, but I've taken ENGLISH!! C'mon now.

Get real and let's act like courteous adults in an intellectual debate, shall we?

I've been advertising on Facebook for a little over a month. I only advertise to people over 18. To be honest with you, you're not missing much. So far I've wasted more on ads with them than I've converted into buyers. Facebook is more casual and a lot of the people aren't in the buying mood when they're on there.

I get very little clicks and a low conversion. The only reason I keep my campaigns up is because it's costing me very little money to run it.

I also had some people from facebook go to my site and cause trouble. I don't want to cancel it because I know of a few other people that haven't been allowed the related ads so I kind of feel lucky mine was approved and is still up.

MySpace denied me a while back as well as several other sites in case you're interested.

You could have just written "I'm just a kid with a thesaurus, a Google search engine, and medical dictionary" and your post would have been shorter. The phrase "null and void" has a specific legal meaning which you attempted to apply in a legal sense...incorrectly...and I said as much. "Get real" (Dr. Phil fan, eh?) and act like the adult you will grow up to be and then enter into an intellectual debate, shall we?

As to your argument, it still holds no water. Nobody is advocating advertising to minors, nobody. I made that clear. You think that you need a credit card to prove that you are 18 to view adult material. Really? Go to, for example, youporn.com and keep your credit cards in your pocket. (No I'm not advocating the site, just proving a point).

When you do grow a little older you will realize that resorting to name-calling ("Leech"?) does little to support your position.

I'm trying to provide a little info to the forum; not call for a btch session.

Happy vaping!

Thanks for the helpful info and insightful feedback--good to know. Still, it would have been interesting to try this as a good first step; it would have been very localized in central Virginia. Virginia is going to be an excellent territory to promote e-cigs over smoking very soon because of the ban coming into effect at the end of the year, and I have had excellent feedback from local bar and restaurant owners who want to appease their regular smoking customers.

Medical dictionary .... you wish. You wouldn't last an hour on the MCAT. I've taken the LSAT for fun and as a brain exercise. I have a full ride doing my Masters and teaching science courses. You're bitter and everyone can see that. Your ignorant furthermore.

Which came first? Complex language or Law School? I'm pretty sure Law School built on the ability to form coherent sentences. Therefore, it's a word that Lawyers happen to use. But it does not constitute (uh oh you might say I cannot say constitute due to the constitution!). LOL ......

I wonder why the applicant pool for Law School has diminished? Maybe has to do with the atmosphere you guys present and the downfall of anything or anyone successful. You are the definition of a lichen.

Make sure you use logic before making claims that before language and words was Law School. No one here is dumb enough to believe you. Idiot. Take the MCAT, ACS, etc. and then come talk to me.

No need to get defensive. We are all TRYING to help, but you seem CLOSED minded to it.

Facebook won't let you advertise.

Oh well.
Boo hoo.

Did you expect to turn serious profit from it anyways?

You'd do much better going to a local flea market and setting up shop.

GUARANTEED TRAFFIC AND INTERACTION.

I see you didn't take my advice. Very sorry for you.

I'm sure you are a good guy, and I'm a former Jerseyan myself before I escaped to Virginia, so I get the whole lashing out thing, and I don't take offense.

You have a very good grasp of English and write in coherent sentences, which is actually quite rare I've noticed. You'll find eventually that broadly spewing insults does nothing for your position or your credibility. Work on that and I think you will be hugely successful in life.

I think we can agree to keep vaping, no smoking, and don't sell to kids....
