Fake Aerotank mega,

So, seems I got a fake aerotank mega. The security code gives back "Security code error, and guard against counterfeiting".
In some days another one arrives from the same seller on the bay.

It did come with all the packaging and branded as kangertech.

If fake, whats the best policy, contact seller first?
I did ask if it was authentic before i bought it, and got a yes.

Make sure that you entered the code correctly. Did the water on the Kanger sticker verification work?

The was no blue sticker,also the box was not wrapped with plastic and text like this image. just some clear cellophane.

So you enter the security code, and it just returns with an 'error'?

Maybe you entered the code wrong? If kanger gets a duplicate code they should be prompting you to report the source of the product so they can track down and prosecute counterfiet products giving them a bad name.

Definitely contact the seller and ask to exchange the one you have for one with valid security code and sticker.

If its not authentic contact the seller. The lettering looks right on it though. Its hard to tell these days. Never had that problem.

When it's a fake code I think it comes up saying how many times the code has been used, and I assume it would prompt for information.

If you type an "o" for a zero, it's going to come up with "Error"

The new Kanger Aerotanks should all have a security sticker on the outside of the packaging. If you moisten the sticker the printing on it disappears. When the sticker dries the printing reappears. Even if the OP didn't type the security code in correctly the security sticker is MIA. It may be a preproduction model rather than a fake but that is something for the seller and Kanger to sort out rather than the OP.

Yea fasttech has a Aerotank Mega style atomizer. They call them nice things like clones and replicas. Often they are alright but hey.

OH that head looks like the real thing the new mega head has an oval or racetrack shaped opening.

I have contacted the seller. Have two standard aerotanks, both passed the security code. Just wished that seller had the mega.

What I noticed besides the missing sticker and cellophane with no text was the airflow hole looks different. Also the text on it is lighter than any pictures I have seen.

But these clones are all over dhgate with Model name Clone Aerotank Mega and 100% Clone Kangertech Aerotank Mega

They don't mention kangertech in the text .

I don't know why you're wasting time; you buy a cheap knockoff then post on a forum about a 'fake Aerotank mega' and still won't post the link to the supposed fake.

is this really a publicity stunt for dhgate or something?

If they're not passing it off as authentic I don't know that I'd buy it, depends what it is. But at least they're being honest and hopefully pricing it as a clone. It's getting cheated that sucks.

Hasn't happened to me yet, but I'm sure it's only a matter of time.

I agree, its the getting cheated and paying the same for a fake that stings. Did receive a refund for this one, so one more to go. I guess it was bound to happen eventually with online purchase.

Those that sell this one on dhgate seems to be honest about it, one answered it was a clone.

So be careful where you get this if you want the genuine one. This one has problems with the threads on the base.

Ended up ordering one genuine locally with some other stuff. Used to be few local sellers with high prices, but things seems to have changed a little the last year.
