The real number 1 Subtank of 2014-15 (called Subtank) sold by xyz was cloned by xyz (or another related factory) and sold in identical packaging.
I bought one for $12 instead of $28.
A nice friendly #1 rated US brand bought lots of them and charged their customers $59.
So, those products were basically the original Subtank only there's no authentication code and this nice friendly #1 rated US brand robbed their customers of about $47 per item.
Nobody complained about that. Some people in our community actually make this possible with their fake reviews & fake review websites.
This is the way of the world. You do what you can to protect yourself and take a few hits.

In terms of auction sites, you just get a refund under your consumer rights.

The difference is sometimes subtle. Something described as 'genuine' needs to be that or the vendor has acted in a way that means you can probably get your money back.
As for the friendly US brand - they just carry on convincing the world you should pay $59.99 for a $12 item, helped by equally evil fake review sites.

Yup.

So I tried it and I don't like it that much. I'm a simple vaper kind of guy so I'm gonna just stick to my pens lol.

Hi CV99 & welcome
Problem is you'll never know whether you don't like it because it was fake, and/or because it was a cheap device in the first place. However if you like your pens then who's to criticise.

With a tank, it's hit and miss.. some are virtually identical, others are poorly machined. The worst with a bad tank is that it won't work right, leak or break easily.

With the mods, I'd worry, it controls the power, everything, it's the heart and brain of your vaping. There's not just a "worst", there's a hundred bad scenarios that can happen with a faulty mod.

And if you're paying the same or close to the official real one, you're getting cheated, but more than that... you can't know what the quality of the parts, the board especially is like.

I've seen a few threads lately from people having issues with their mods, to find that they had a cheap clone....

Personally, I would not get or use a clone mod... if the quality should lack in any way, I wouldn't want something with such powerful batteries close to my face or body, it's just not worth the risk.

Considering that you can easily get a lot of authentic mods that have passed quality testing and evaluation for under 50$, it's just something that doesn't make much sense to me to have an increased risk of injury.

I bought a iStick Pico 75W kit off ebay, turned out to be a fake. Performance was horrible, voltage to watts was way off. Had to go thru ebay to get my money back.

The code on the Pico box had been checked 1,4561 times on the Eleaf authentication website and it wouldn't update to latest release. Get your money back and let ebay know, they don't need to be selling counterfeits as authentic.

If I purchase something, I want it to have a warranty. This means a) Manufacturer stands behind their product enough to resolve defects (I have no clue whether that's some sort of legal mandate, but it should be) and b) I really don't like researching a product to death, then being sent something inauthentic. I've certainly bought things on ebay before, but nothing I was going to PUT in my mouth and INHALE. Or any batteries/wicks, whatever associated with it, it's dangerous. I mean, keep it if you want? I guess? If the seller is non-responsive take it up with e-bay though they certainly aren't at any kind of standard to uh, uphold their sellers to certain standards like, say, amazon, though that itself has its own problems....
