I know this is probably a question for the full member forum however I'm not there yet. Can anyone tell me if tobacco flavors are harder on carts than the fruity/other flavors? I've only been at this for two weeks and it seems like that is the case for me. Also, I purchased a "High Caliber" brand juice" which I LOVE. Any recomendations as to where to purchase this brand at other sites on online? Thank you in advance for any help!

Thought I'd share my observations with you - I've been vaping since August and really threw myself into it - after 40 years of tobacco use, I got my 1st e-cig kit and quit analogs that day. I've tried lots of juices and have noticed that the darker the liquid the quicker it seems to "gunk up" a carto. Also, maybe higher VG content does it too? My cartos seem to last longer with higher PG content juices, which I prefer at this point. Bear in mind I am no expert and I think I did read something somewhere about this issue with the darker juices. If anyone else has info on this I'd appreciate it also. Hope this helps BSideBoo :)

I seen one on youtube

has anyone opened up a e-cig battery before?

i dropped by dura ego and the on/off button seems to be spoil. the battery is still working but the button is spoiled :(

Now for my question, I am putting a starter kit together and want to make sure everything will fit together and is good quality.

Here is my list -
M601/2 [2 batteries (1 manual & 1 auto )]
SMART PCC Pack - internal battery, + room for 2 external, and holds 3 carts
and Multicolor End Caps by smokeless image (to tell my flavors apart)

If anyone has any suggestions on my choices, or know where I can get them cheap let me know!

Phew! There is so much to read for the Newbie on the eCigs that my mind is spinning! Finally decided just to buy something to get started. I opted for the V4L ecigs with cartos because they were on sale. I think they are 808s. I am still on analogs and hope the eCig can help me get off them. It appears that it worked for most smokers.
I noticed that most folks opt for all types of upgrades for their units but I am very confused. I'm not sure what upgrades go with which unit! Is there a tank for use with cartos or can you only refill the cartos? It also seems that the eLiquids are an acquired taste and some feel they taste terrible. Is there an eLiquid that anyone knows of that works well for most Newbies?
Thanks for helping out! I will let you know how it goes once I receive my equipment.

I started vaping in August 2011 with 808s - I think cartomizer setups are some of the least frustrating setups to begin vaping with, so good choice there Startingover. My advice from one newbie to another:
Batteries - I quickly went to Riva batts with a 901 connection (compatible with 808s) for higher capacity - I still use the 808s once in a while when I don't need extended battery life and/or I feel like having the look of a cigarette. Also, manual batteries, once you get used to using them, seem to be more reliable in my experience.
Cartomizers - I've never used any of the V4L products, but I can tell you the newer horizontal coil cartomizers are good. With any cartomizers though, the main thing is don't put too much liquid in them (flooding) and don't let them get too dry (burning). And remember that although you can clean and re-use them, they don't perform as well after. I want to keep my vaping experience enjoyable, so when the performance drops, I toss the carto - it's still cheaper than analog cigarettes.
Liquids - these are very subjective. I would try some sample packs. That said, I personally think starting with "familiar" flavors (for me, it was the mint ones and USA tobacco) instead of the "fancy" ones is safest, for lack of a better word.
Most importantly - don't give up - the mechanics of vaping takes some getting used to and I know I had moments of frustration. If you stick with it, you won't have any regrets in the long run :)
And, you have definitely come to the right place - ECF is a fountain of knowledge and support... Congrats on taking the first steps!

Thanks for all the words of wisdom folks! I was going to look to buy something else based on what I was reading on the site but maybe this is a good place to start? I saw an EgoT for sale in the ads but it will not let me reply to anyone. I guess because i am new. Oh well, I will continue to look around until my stuff gets here but try it out with the V4L setup first. I think I had better get some more juice to vape or I will be out in a couple of days based on what everyone is saying. Not good if I want to get off the analogs.
Is there a piece you can put on this unit that will keep juice flowing into the carto? maybe that was the tank for the other setup? Thanks again for helping!

Are the tanks you're referring to the ones which hold 3 ml or more of liquid? If so, they require a cartomizer which is punched or slotted to let the juice flow into it from the tank surrounding it. I'm not sure, but I think most of these setups have a lower resistance in the cartomizers, meaning they'll drain a standard battery pretty quickly. I think an Ego/Riva style battery would work better with them because of the higher mah ratings.
The EgoT is, I believe, a battery/atomizer/tank unit - you fill the tank, put it on the atomizer which is attached to the battery and the tank feeds the atomizer. My spousal unit has used a Lea tank (similar to the EgoT) and he likes it pretty well.
Since you've already got a kit coming, you could just start with filling several cartos and/or carrying some juice with you to top off the carto you're using periodically.
Try not to feel overwhelmed as you begin the vaping adventure - there's a learning curve and a ton of different types of equipment out there... it can be quite daunting at first, but if you take it a step at a time, you'll be fine :)
BTW, I just noticed...if you post one more time in the new members forum, you'll have more access to the rest of ECF.

Thanks for the help and encouraging words elencius!
I was just looking around for some juice using the link Swedishfish sent and now I have more questions about VG/PG juices. Does it make a difference which I use? I saw some orgainic stuff that sounds interesting...it's VG. Is that the best for vaping? Sorry for all the questions but I'm having a hard time searching the site and you are all so willing to help!

No apology necessary, Startingover - it feels like alot to process in the beginning...
Preferences on juice vary so much, but in general this is what I've learned so far:
PG is supposed to equal more flavor, less vapor.
VG is supposed to equal more vapor and not as much flavor.
I haven't tried any, but I understand that vaping 100% of either VG or PG is fine - some people have a sensitivity to one or the other and so go with no blend.

As a starting point, 80% PG - 20% VG or maybe 70% PG - 30% VG might suit you unless the organic factor is super important to you.
There are suppliers which allow you to customize your blend - one I've tried is Voidmist.
Madvapes is also good with reasonable prices, but no customization on their pre-made juices.
Good Prophets is another supplier and they are in your neck of the woods if I remember offhand.
I like my juice a little thinner and VG is thicker than PG, so more PG in my mix is a win/win since flavor is important to me.
I don't feel as though I missing any appreciable amount of vapor either.
The main thing is, expect to experiment, and if at first you don't succeed, try, try again ;)
I smoked for many years and quit completely the day I received my first kit - with all the flavors of liquid available, it's hard for me to imagine going back to smoking!
