Once I unpacked mine and began using it, I put my current all day favourite on it, and used it a lot for a day and a half. Charged it last night ...took around 5 hours. May have been my imagination, but it seemed to drain faster after around 2/3 down.

Just before TOTP last night there was a documentary on all about The Dave Clarke Five which I watched and found very interesting. Yes I've heard all their music but never realised how big they were and how clever Dave Clarke was playing, singing, writing and producing both tv and music. Big hats off to him.

DC5 Glad All Over and Swinging Blue Jeans Hippy Hippy Shake were both being played at the first dance I ever went to.
I also recall at that time, Roy Orbisons Indian Wedding was being played as much as the a side: It's Over.
Funny how remembering one will lead to others coming to mind.

Turned over in time to see the last half of the DC5 and also watched the bio about Joe Meek, my step-brother knew DC and I often used to speak to Malcolm McLaren back in the early seventies when he and Vivienne Westwood had the "Let it Rock" clothes shop in the King's Road before he teamed up with Johnny Rotten & the Sex Pistols

I'm more of an 80's fan myself, being a teen in that era. But my Dad had plenty of stuff that I used to listen to, everything from Elvis to Mrs Mills
So I do have an appreciation for earlier stuff too

We had neither of those ..plenty of early 60's and a few big band singles, plus Acker Bilk, etc. I had an LP of film themes (Legend of the Glass Mountain, Warsaw Concerto, Dr Zhivago etc.). My parents listened to radio a lot, so no records. By the time they did buy records, they were certainly not anything I wanted to listen to!

I remember years ago at school, I was probably about 12 at the time. We had a painting competition and I ended up coming third. I'm hopeless at art, but with my entry I put a lot of time into it. It was a painting of a prison in a cell, the bit I was most proud of was the stone wall in the background. I spent hours, slowly building up each layer of colour on the stones so that they almost glistened in different lighting. The prisoner himself looked bloody awful, not good at painting people. I got the third place for the level of detail in the stone wall, which surprised me I doubt my portraits would be any better now, so I'll leave that to the experts

Not every artist can paint figures (it's something I've kept clear of since the frustrating days of portrait painting for people) I see plenty of very good paintings that are spoiled by badly painted people - figures on horses for instance that are far too big, or heads too big for the bodies.
Still, those who can paint people, aren't necessarily good at painting a realistic stone wall! No artist can paint everything with skill unless they're extremely good forgers, and even they pick & choose!
One thing I did a good job of first time I ever painted such a thing was a coffee grinder I have ..I was pleased with that - the photo wasn't brilliant, and a bit on the light side:

That does look a lot better than the abstracts I've seen before. Things like the works of Picasso really don't do it for me though. For me, a painting should be realistic. But that's just my opinion and I'd never make an Art Critic

Art critics are a pain at times - best critics are the people who stand and look at the paintings on walls and in galleries and know nothing or little about the technicalities or thought processes. It's all about what you like, and how a painting makes you feel.

I used to love Biology and Chemistry at school. Probably because we had excellent Teachers. My Biology Teacher was an absolute nut case, He'd do impressions of how plants react to light. Then jump up on the desk, hop from one desk to another, showing us how cell membranes are permeable and can absorb different elements. One time he fell off the desk and that was even funnier

That's the thing ..a good teacher! My chemistry and physics teachers were very bland and boring, and being the type of person who likes to engage with a subject, I was left floundering.
General science and biology were far better for all the teacher was a lady to strike fear into those who wouldn't work, but she was an engaging and interesting teacher. She and I had a battle of wills, but I think she knew I respected her.

I've used the Harris brushes myself, excellent natural bristle brushes. The cheaper brushes are just a false economy, just don't transfer the paint onto the surface as well.

I think they'd make a good job of artists brushes too!

Probably, yes ..I am determined - but time is something I'm short of - I'll lose a lot of standing if I fail to produce enough work again. Since the recession, work doesn't sell so fast either, so it has to be really good.

Yes, I did see her when looking for the film details! ...Susie Quattro was someone I aspired to be like but lost my patience with the guitar! With paint, I get an instant result to manipulate as I wish!

I actually bought my first ego/nova set-up around this time 2 years ago, but didn't start the smoke free counter until the day I gave up ciggies completely. Took about 3 weeks of dual use before I stubbed the last one out.

Amazing the stages we've all come through! Makes me wonder what we'll be using in another year!

I'm with Ian on the 80s music.The Specials, The Smiths(probably the best band ever) Happy Mondays and Stone Roses one of the best decades for music.I was brought up listening to the kinks and the who, both bands I still love.The best band to come out of the 60's is The Doors.Jim Morrison was the best frontman ever!! The man is a poet

We've seen some great icons and pioneers in the music world. Some gone far too soon, but their music will always be special.

The Chris M caps are different to ours.They are good in the filling way but not so good in others,Eg you can't pull the drip tip off without closing the JC.
The drip tip seals the tank unlike the small "o" ring we have on top of the chimney.First thing i checked out when i got my bell end,i mean cap.It's got to be done the way the Kayfunmods vid showed.That is unless the infinate v4's come with the ChrisM style bell end.
It's a bummer mate.

Definitely not, I was well into RnR in those days (still am really) and that was the main place to get all the gear, drape, drainpipes and of course brothel creepers, or bss as Elvis used to call them
