Good morning everyone!! Can you believe it? It's almost a new year!
Anywho i checked on my fasttech package this morning. Looks like the status has changed. Does this mean the office let my package slide?
Also on a side note, i did some research yesterday after i found out that the package was held at customs. I found out these facts about import dutyThought i might share. Not sure if it applies in the UK but i did the search solely for the purpose of importing into Malaysia.
Notes on duty & taxes rates and compliance
Electronic Cigarette is duty free and a has a VAT rate of 10% . Importation of medical products as well as electronic products that emit radiation are subject to examination by the national regulatory entity, such as the Ministry of Health or Food and Drug Administration. License requirements may apply. Duty rate for Electronic cigarette may be reduced as China-ASEAN free trade agreement applies. A certificate of origin may be required. Restrictions may apply for shipping this product with courier or postal companies [Some probability]. Packaging and labelling requirements apply to Lithium batteries whether they are contained in the equipment or sent separately from the device. Please, contact your courier for more information.
Notes on import taxes due
No duties because the total CIF does not exceed RM500.00
In my case my Cost of insurance and freight only costs RM251.78 which is under RM500. Why did they hold my items back in the first place -_- I swear to god, customs officers in Malaysia... really have nothing better to do but to extort money from people![]()
You are lucky, VAT over here is 20% on anything above £15 about RM81.75 and duty at differing rates depending on the product (e-cigs 3.7%) on anything over £135 (RM735.75) but if the duty due is <= £9 (RM49.05) then it is not applied.
If your parcel contained an ecig with a LiPo battery inside then that may have caused the inspection, but it sounds like it is now on its way to your local delivery office.
