Well Bob - your cat loves you. I know it whines for food - but they do that. That's their gig. Just wanted to say that I'm off line for a few weeks but I'm with you. Keep the vaping up! I'm taking two Kbox 70s and a Coolfire (that you suggested and I'm very fond of) with me. Not taking any tech (no - not even a Chromebook orphone) so can't chat. But I'll still be here all the time in spirit (for what that's worth!).

BTW has anyone else noticed that Chromebooks are so much simpler and safer to use than Windows machines these days? I'm all for thin client (despite being portly myself!).

Cheers for that, I don't normally watch his Vlog ones - too much waffle, but found the part where he shows that, and not bad, depends on price etc.

Just wondering if anyone has had any problem with paying for an order from Chefs with PayPal?

Three times today I tried to pay for an order via PP, and each time ended up back on a page at Chefs that stated 'Error'.

I sent a message to ask what the problem was, got no reply so phoned ....no answer. Must have been a glitch somewhere - hopefully find out tomorrow.

If all you want is a cheapo lappy to check gmail, do a bit of browsing, FB & Twitter, and a few other simple tasks then a Chromebook is very useful, they are only about £100-£150, but I agree with you, although mine's not as big as your's I've only got 23"

We were there, but it was in the 60's the year before we were married! Drove down and went to places in Devon, Dorset, Cornwall, Bournemouth & London - first such holiday I'd ever had, and it was lovely!

I do have a notebook/laptop that Chillblast made for me - think it's a 17" one. I got it in case I need a back-up computer at some point ...thinking of which, I haven't even turned it on for around 5 months! Must update some images on it so that I can still work if this one falls over! But, I did like the appearance of the Surface Pro, but I wouldn't buy one ...too expensive, and I don't need one.

I got the monitor fairly recently. My 2nd LaCie died in February, so I took a chance on a Viewsonic VP2780 (UHD, 4K) It's factory calibrated with certificates, and really is great for accurate colour, contrast etc. out of the box! Half the price of the LaCie and it's contemporaries/rivals.

Going to have to try a new router now ...keep getting drops once, but sometimes twice daily ..not total disconnections, but ADSL drops. Began early March. Everything seems to check out fine here, but the 7800n router is 2 years old so may need changing. I'll try one from Amazon and can send it back if the problem remains.
I could try disabling the Wi-Fi to see if it's the TV's or Sky box causing it, but doubt it. If it's interference from nearby sources outside, there's nothing I can do about that.
Toss up now between two Billion models: 8800NL and the 7800NXL

Never been west of Plymouth, always wanted to but being a smoker always stopped me (too long to go without on a train), will have to wait now as I couldn't put Fred in a cattery, we've left him on his own (outside) for about 24 hours in the past, but anything longer than that just wouldn't be right.

I don't know of any outside influences, but it's certainly nothing being turned on/off within our house, unless the smart TV and Sky box could be causing it as they do have access via Wi-Fi and were both new a couple of months ago.
Thankfully, our lines are underground, but some surrounding areas are still pole-fed.
I can hardly go knocking on doors to ask if they bought something electrical in the past couple of months.
The drops were always happening between 5 & 6pm initially, now it's anywhere up to around 10pm or slightly later.
I do often notice packet loss start around 3-4pm culminating in a drop at some point later. This is from last night:

I was always the same with travelling - an hour OK, anything else, forget it ...too stressful (probably the thought of it more then doing it).

DSL drops are nothing to do with WiFi, normally caused by electrical interference, fluorescent lighting, network cables too close to electrical cables, things that can get switched on/off if too close or too powerful, the only thing WiFi would cause is a loss of signal within the WiFi network. Could well be a neighbour who has recently bought something that is causing it, if you have an old analogue portable radio, you could try hunting for the interference with that, not sure if there is a specific frequency you have to use, someone on TBB might know.

But at least with a dog, you can put a lead on them and take them with you most of the time, a lot of cats can't even stand having a collar on, never mind a lead, mine included.

I used to have a Siamese cat,that the breeder suggested i obtained a collar and lead for.
She said it would be good to take the cat for a walk.
HA HA! No chance,take for a drag more like.Never got it beyond the garden gate.
The cat was probably on my side 'tho and didn't want me looking a right lemon,walking a cat in public.

There is a method to using a radio, but I don't have one, and even if I did and found the source, I'm not keen on knocking on a door to ask. Wish there was a way to block such interference.
It looks odd that such a big spike could be caused at a point where something is likely being switched off - not a timer because of the irregularity of time - and the packet loss usually stops after that (Unless there's bad weather around).

True, but being on the corner, we never walk them past the houses ...it's always up the main road to the lanes. Would definitely look odd if I walked a dog past their houses ...or at least, I'd feel conspicuous!

I can honestly say that I've never seen anyone walking a cat on a lead! ....I wouldn't do it either.

yes unless you have one of those big breed cats that are a cross between an african wild cat and a tabby, it's a foolish idea.
