16/17 year olds to get a vote - No Thank you Nikki Morgan.

Indeed. Ms Morgan is far too half-witted to be leader. It was her glorious idea to turn EVERY school in the country into an Academy - an idea more appropriate for the politburo than our English parliament. Jeremy Hunt and second referendum? No thanks. Andrea Leadsom, however, is a rising star.

If the "yoof" want more representation then it might be a good idea if they turned up to vote. Only 36% of 18-24 year-olds who had registered to vote in the Referendum actually bothered to go and do so. It's no good wittering on about "the wrong result" if you didn't bother to vote in the first place. This needs straightening out before we enfranchise kiddies.

When the Tory MPs/1922 Committee have selected, via a ballot process, two candidates to compete for the role of leader, the membership vote on who that will be. I understand that, to prevent a "Corbyn" scenario of thousands of new members signing up just to vote, you will need to have been a member for a while in order to vote this time.
Sounds a sensible way of doing things.
Pity in a way that the public don't get to vote for their choice ...there again, even they could go for the one most likely to give the best of both worlds to appease the 'remain' lot.
It's a fine line as to what we actually get.

The problem with full access to the single market is that free movement of people comes with the deal. We would be better off imho making trade arrangements with individual countries. After all, we voted to leave rather than to carry on as before.
We did indeed. I see mention of us never being able to have one without the other, while others seem to think we can. I'd far rather we made our own way with trade either way.

The more I read about the single Market, the more alarmed I feel in some ways though - At 14.55pm on this page, I see the following:

"the UK will work hard to negotiate the best possible access for all its industries and that could involve membership of the Single Market. That is quite achievable, other countries are already in the Single Market without belonging to the EU, but they all allow free movement of EU citizens and pay into EU funds."
Business Live: FTSE 100 rises 2% - BBC News 14.55pm

Nooo! from what I heard said by the younger voters, they haven't a clue what they were truly voting for!
A lot of them think that only older, poorer, or badly educated people voted 'out' for a start! Some suggested that it was selfish because we'd be gone long before them! No hint of respect regarding people who had a lifetime of experience.
My view is that they think they're better off letting others make all their decisions rather than risk a bit of hardship to make the country a better place!

Can we actually do that? I thought that any trade deal with an EU country had to go through the Commission, who could either veto it or demand trade tariffs.

I would like to think that that is what a negotiation is all about. We are trying to leave the EU, not trying to join it. Our hands are tied for a while when we are still in the "Club" - rights & responsibilities etc.. And we still have to pay our Club dues. Of course once we have truly severed our links things will relax. We have to be careful not to negotiate too many rights away during this interesting time. Tariffs, btw, may well work out cheaper - but if I had a lot to sell to GB I wouldn't ask for them.

Equally America, India and many other countries all trade with the EU without trade agreements at present. The EU is like an old lady trying to make a tapestry fireguard when it comes to trade deals - it takes them forever. The good news is that many countries trade perfectly well without them. That could be us.

BTW the current system means that taxpayers pay for business access to the market. If business has to do that instead would it be so bad? Support if necessary - but hey! This could be very good for the man on the Bolton omnibus (Clapham now being too expensive). :)

Well listening to the latest news, there will be no special deals between EU countries and the UK, methinks they need us more than we need them, so as far as I am concerned, we should hold out for them to come crawling to us, then tell them what we will allow them to have on our terms and not theirs.

I got mail:

My order from Getvapestuff for 3x30ml bottles Moose juice:
1 Banana Cream Pie, 1 Strawberry Angel Food Cake & 1 Butterscotch Ripple Ice Cream (Sorry Terry!). All smell rather good! a drop taste was good too - so I'll try them soon.
The label on the customs declaration had one at full price of $18, the other two $9 - I think if they'd all had that price, there's a chance it would have got through at the time they came through customs - not now (I've had two recently that were around $30 and they arrived OK).
So the actual tax duty was £4.93 plus £8 for RM handling.
I probably won't buy any more from the US until the $/£ goes up again.

I also got an order from Chefs: 100ml White Velvet .3mg, & 500ml 12mg VG base. (I'll use it 3 parts zero to 1 part 12mg)

Plus, a Protank 4 and pack of SSOCC coils from FT.

China as well, they charge in $ - but at least the shipping is normally free and no VAT.
At their prices, I don't think I'll worry about the exchange rate when buying from them :)
Think it may take a few months before we get back up to normal, maybe after we see who the new PM is going to be
Quite possible. I have plenty of the ones I use from the US, so not likely to be a problem ...as long as I don't go mooching!

£8 for RM handling.

And i bet RM tracking didn't work on the parcel.
I posted an item from Chester to Manchester the other day 1st class signed for.
RM tracking did not recognise the number, however 17track showed it as being signed for at A-U-L SO.
I spoke to the receiver who said "Yes,i was red carded and picked it up this morning".

Looks like it might be TM then

Don't forget Andrea Leadsom. And Michael Gove is formidable. Mr Crabb might do well because he could attract "working class" voters to the party. Trouble is he was a remainer, as was TM.

I think the fact RM tracking didn't even bring up the number says more than that Bob.

His polling has been going badly since his Daily Telegraph piece earlier in the week which suggested that he might be softening on Brexit. Specifically he seems to have responded to Michael Gove throwing his hat into the ring. Perhaps we will never really know.
