Well so much for these people who promise to ring you back to repair a computer - not one ever called back, so ended up getting one of these:

and installed it myself earlier today after it was delivered - had looked at the YT vids and it looked quite easy and apart from one little part where I could have done with a third hand it was very easy, so I now have the main 'puter up and running at an even lower temperature than when it was new 32 now 40 new.

It does make you mad, especially when you get to my age, and no one wants to help, I was very wary of doing it myself remembering the last one I tried to put a normal type fan/heatsink on and think I didn't put enough TIM on and ended up blowing the CPU, but looking at the YT vids helped a lot and this one came with the TIM already on the pump/heatsink, so was actually a lot easier to install than the older system was. It's quite noisy when you first switch it on, but once it has got up and running it's whisper quiet. - Well happy, was getting peed off using the lappy, that can go back downstairs and just be used for checking up actors/singers names that I can't remember
George, i see what you mean about the chimbly sticking un the V4`s. I went to rewick one today, the one giving dry hits. Tried with all my strength to take the deck out, without emptying it, and it was stuck tight.
So i stripped it from the top down, dug my marigolds out And off came the chimbly. It`s obviously the vacuum what is causing this problem, so when i put it back together, and opened the JC, i just nipped the deck open just a tiny tiny bit, so it wont stick again. I have had no leaks at all, and it is vaping like a champion.
I have to say, i love these V4`s, the flavour and clouds is off the scale @ 15 watts. So when they have had their knees up in china, i will definitely be getting a couple more. Anyone reading this who wants a couple of Lemo`s @ BOGOF, just pm me.

I can only say well done! Very glad you got it done yourself - but terrible service from the supposed computer service companies! Perhaps there wasn't enough profit in it seeing it wasn't a lengthy process for someone used to doing such things!
So annoying after you spent time chasing after these people!
I often think we have a design flaw in that we don't have three hands! Still, perhaps when we were designed, there wasn't much call for three!

I don't have one but it's meant to be pretty good. It has loads of airflow options but I can't remember how much you can close it off. Have you watched rip trippers review of it? He goes through all the different airflow options. I can't remember what do you vape on these days? Do you lung hit or mouth to lung? I think the dark horse is suited for high power, lots of airflow lung hits BUT if you can close the airflow down quite a bit then it should be ok for more restricted, less airy hits.
If I recall the post holes are big on the dark horse as well so might not be suited for really thin wire. 28ga or thicker would be fine though.
I know there's a good clone of it on fasttech. When checking out the different clones (on FT or not) check to see if it has the square insulator for the positive post. The authentic has it and the good quality clones have it but the poorer clones do not.

Too right, can't understand people who only use lappys, they're no good for serious users, who like to have a few programs open at once, and lot's of things running in the background, I'm amazed at how much cooler the system is running as well, considering the one that failed had much better write-ups, and cost about £50 more, good job I couldn't find one to buy.
It's great that not only is it fixed, but running better too!
Mine has never run hot ..barely warm in fact, and is always quiet. Had a slightly noisy start-up a few times, but it goes after a minute.
I'd hate to use a laptop/notebook ...and perish the thought of using a tablet or phone!
I have to have something powerful anyway for my work - often have a few heavy duty programmes open at once, and definitely need the large screen monitor. I'll need to do some homework about pro series monitors ..want one that doesn't need tinkering around with using colorimeters/calibration! (First LaCie I had was brilliant out of the box!)

One thing I've noticed here about all the high-end toppers that people are playing with. They all seem to need a lot of tweaking. Do any of them just work? Or is the fun in the tweaking?
Let us know how it goes,i was looking at the Marquis but thought maybe it was a big step for my first dripper.It's vertical builds isn't it.
