Dickins & Jones closed in 2006, and the building was re-developed to have shops at ground level and an upmarket restaurant with apartments and roof terraces above.
Having watched the two series of documentaries on Liberty, I've seen that it's definitely changed under the leadership of their US MD Ed Burstell (formerly Bergdorfs NY) - the store was sold in 2009 and now owned by a conglomerate of some sort. It's still quirky and unusual, but very upmarket in particularly fashion, and I think the Liberty I knew is a lot different now. I doubt they still have those lovely bars of soap simply wrapped in white with a gold 'Liberty' etc. writing on it.
I think Covent Garden has stayed pretty much the same though - a few businesses changed/gone, but I loved the atmosphere there. The Neal's Yard cheese shop alone is a wonder!
The ROH musicians and performers are great - and I was once there in February, sat outside wrapped up in a winter coat having a pot of tea and watching a man juggling a chainsaw and balancing it on his chin!
My husband had never been there before, so on the afternoon we were on our way to the evening private view at the RA, we detoured there and there was an Andean folk group (Tarpuy) performing. We bought their CD. It was the last day of May and really warm and sunny ...perfect day really
If you feel like a trip into town, go and see the summer exhibition at the RA later this year - there's so much to see there usually, and I was overawed, fascinated, amused and completely bowled over by it. There's some absolutely ridiculous stuff, but there's some very clever ones too.

I can't be 100% sure of the maker Terry. It was the first one FT listed,i asked them and they said it was a privacy policy and the maker did'nt want it disclosing.
But fishing around it appears to be made by Robotech

'Twas only a matter of time ..he was only three then!Bit different from using a bin lid as a sledge.
Ours were a lot older by the time I could afford that - still worried me though! We weren't even allowed in the room that had the Dansette without Adult supervision![]()
Yes, he said just that! Trouble is, he said it within earshot of some people, and I asked him how he thought we'd feel if we heard someone say that about one of mine! He got my point then.I think I'd be the same as your Hubby, if I think it's crap I'd probably say so![]()

Oh dear! We had a geography teacher in high school, and he threw the blackboard rubber too! Large chunk of wood hurtling through the air at the unsuspecting daydreamer ...not good, and we're talking about girls anywhere between 14 and 16. He never got sacked, at least not while I was there - he'd never get away with it even once now!I guess I was lucky, we had some superb teachers. Our Music teacher at Primary School was a real Hitler though. If you sang a note wrong, he'd literally pick you up out of your seat by the ear, or throw the board rubber at your head. It did stop though, after the Parent of one Student paid him a visit and convinced him that beating up kids was a bad idea. He never did come back to teaching us Music after that encounter![]()
Seems to have passed quickly! Hope you have a good day!Back in work tomorrow worst luck![]()
Nine smart mods hanging in a row, and if one smart mod should accidentally fall, there'd be ............I`m down to nine mods in regular use now mate, seems enough to get me through the day![]()

Those 5 day trips were a treat for me, perhaps 4 times a year at most, and I loved wandering around shops and places and fitting in a few work related meetings/visits too. That proves I don't go up there muchand never go into those type of stores anyway, more a M&S man myself
