Hello' so I have a smoke detector in my hallway to my house which is a few metres from my bedroom door. For some reason sometimes when I open my door the smoke detector starts going off its head. Its happened about 10 times in the last 3 weeks now and seems to have started when I switched to more vg based e-liquid over more pg based. I didn't know smoke detectors could detect vapour. How do I stop it from doing this? Its really annoying me now and everyone in the house.

Don't open the door right after vaping a bunch of cloud?

Newer smoke detectors now come with two methods for smoke detection, ionization chamber and a photoelectric cell. The photoelectric setup is what gets tripped by vapor. Also gets tripped if you take a hit steamy shower near one as well, so it's anything like that. They're usually found in commercial spaces but may be found in newer detectors for residential use as well.

My smoke detectors have never sounded due to vaping, only when I burn dinner. I have read stories here about folks setting off detectors in hotel rooms when vaping. Probably an example of the two different types of smoke detectors as suggested above.

I have a detector in my room and yes I have set it off. The dog hates that thing more then the vacuum. Vape is heavier then air so I started being very careful not to blow the vape towards the ceiling. It sounds nuts but I haven't had any problems since, even though the room still gets quite foggy.

Could move the detector or rotate to increase (air flow)/decrease propensity for vape entrapment.

IDK. They are all different. I set off a smoke detector vaping. One that DID NOT go off when our HOUSE was on fire.

It was a tiny little MTL puff as I was changing the thermostat. I think it was just the right thing, at the right time.

You are getting good suggestions as far as reducing vapor production. You could also replace it with a different smoke detector less sensitive to vaping. Etc.

When I flew 2 weeks ago, the flight attendants were sure to emphasize that those who tried to sneak a vape in the airplane’s restroom would surely set off the smoke detector. I had my Zyn nicotine pouches at the ready as I can’t go more than an hour without nic (unless, of course, I’m sleeping).

Plenty of great advice already given.

Good luck! ;)

I'm a mtl vaper and hadn't set mine off before, until I upped the VG ratio of ejuice. As soon as I went 30/70 pg/VG after a couple of hours of normal chainvaping - it would go off

You can get different types of alarms - try replacing that alarm with an Ionic type
