I know just what you mean. I've settled into a routine of making just what I need and not doing much experimenting. I have my 10 or so ADV's and rotate them so I find myself mixing maybe once a month and only mixing those flavors I get low on. My perfection days are pretty much over and I've adapted a close is close enough attitude.
Very well put. My first ever DIY mix was supposed to be the perfect clone of some factory juice i had used a lot. I had analyzed it in my head for days, bought a bunch of appropriate flavours, determined what percentages i would need, and made 500ml at once, because i couldn't go wrong right? Classic n00b mistake, worst juice i had ever tasted.

I then figured it just wasn't accurate enough so started weighing, testing micro amounts. Didn't help either.

Moved on to getting better flavours, wrote down every mix until several obvious patterns surfaced.

Nowadays i have an average 10 to 20 steeped singleflavour juices and make daily mixes on the go. Never the same, always varying ratios, sometimes without that one flavour because i need to restock it. I don't even bother anymore to use an exact percentage per flavour: i just take a 10ml flavour bottle and add it to an average 300ml of base, or less, or more if there's just a bit of base left.

Also my vapebrewing has reduced to maybe 4 to 6 times per year. I literally need to dust off my brewlab every time i pull it out of the closet.

Still do follow this topic though, and find new tips all the time.

That Bahraini Gold Apple is an older flavor that I only recently tried and I find this to be just a great flavor. Ordered the flavor a year ago and just never got around to mixing any until a month ago. Glad I finally did.
Most find the apple shisha lush, if you haven't tried yet the raspberry shisha is equally as good, apologies if in tobacco thread.

My "close enough is close enough" blend is every mix I make these days and is derived from years and years of making the same things over and over.
I used to measure right to the fractional 10th of a molecule of base and flavor, and used every established practice deemed proper. But after years of making the same things over and over, Now my measuring is more like "My eye ball says that looks like enough" Or my 30ml bottle is not full enough let me pour a little more base in. Or This juice is not thick enough let me pour a little more VG in and the hell with calculating the flavor differences or compensation amounts I'll just squirt a little more of this flavor in. As long as it taste good I'm happy.

Many of my recipes have strayed away from what the original was but they still taste good to me and many have gotten better with todays "I don't give a dam about exactness" mixing attitude. Funny thing is I always remember what I did the last time I did it and can always reproduce it and if I want to create exactly what I created 3 years ago it's all written down. The most important thing is to write every recipe down even if the measurements are only ballpark amounts (I find the notes section of E-Juice me up perfect for that).

Also I've come to know my flavor profiles of what flavors, TA's and home extracted NET's I have and can visualize in my mind what they taste like so when I want something different I formulate a plan in my mind and go to work and create It, this technique also comes from many years of experience and experimentation.

So what I'm saying is mixing does not have to be an exact science and the best results come from experience in itself.

I not long ago stopped at a White Horse vape shop and left feeling a bit ashamed that I had not accomplished much. I walked in and the sales person was blowing out huge clouds of vapor. I was invited to sample some of the e liquid. The first was a sweet candy like caramel flavor, a nice change from the plain tobaccos I smoke. A very nice rich full cloud of vapor. I learned they use a 70 VG 30 PG mixture where I use a 80 PG 20 VG mixture. and all this came from a thin pen like vaporizer.
At home I had to try getting a sweet candy like flavor and used toffee and then added honey. Not bad and the next step would be to try adding this to a tobacco flavor. Next I want to try changing my 80 PG 20 VG ratio and increase the VG. I've still got a long way to go and many bottles of flavoring not opened yet.

Vaping has definitely become a hobby for me and I can't find enough time for all the things to be done. New tanks and tanks that need coils. I still haven't found a sweetener for the tobacco flavors that works for me. Lots of things I still need to try.

Just curious.. have you tried this one? Erythritol Liquid Concentrate

If so, why didn't it work? I'm asking because i have some on the way..

Another in a lull here, fills like I've done the full vape journey, settled on dark-for-pipe 6% 18mg then have a change to Bahraini apple gold 3% 6mg, just the hardware to worry about now.

I had some premade that reminded me a bit of smoking shisha, and I really liked it.

Just curious, what does that taste like?

For me i would say stewed apple, not to sweet or sour, with creamy mouth fill, at 3% mix, your taste to suit with % ratios of p/g v/g for me 35% p/g 65%v/g, you get a lot out from the apple gold playing around with p/g v/g ratios and its all good, plus as a indoor vape had no complaints on aroma.

Is anyone experiencing lack of enthusiasm compared to when they started vaping? I've kind of settled on a couple of flavors and don't feel the urge to experiment that much. Too bad, I now have to look for a new hobby...

It's the times bro, not the juice.; but, a good juice may improve the times.

Good luck! :)

Interested to hear your results. In some limited tests with a few of my fav recipes it seemed adequate if somewhat sublimating of some accent flavorings. I'm afraid I haven't found its ideal application. Any success out there?

Good luck. :)

This is my notes on this one mixed at 3%

upload_2017-5-8_17-21-9.png

Score: 8/10. This is nicely blended, and the grassy/hay taste is sitting well balanced in the background, subdued by the honey and vanilla. It leaves me with a (from what I can remember from smoking) cig'a'like aftertaste in the mouth. This flavor would also work well in a pipe mix. It also has a tiny bit of smoke/ash taste, but very faint. A winner for sure!

I'm using an artificial sweetener from Flavor Jungle, I think the honey seems to do the best sweetening for me.
I made a 30 ml bottle of 50 PG 50 VG at 3 mg, Probably more vapor and I didn't notice a decrease in flavor. I have about a cup of already mixed liquid I'll probably make 65 PG 35 PG.

I'm with ya C on using honey and sweeter flavorings like strawberry for sweeteners. EM or Cotton Candy just expedite accretion. Prefer marshmallow in very moderate amounts. Smooths flavored tab recipes as it seems neutral to slightly acidic. Use TFA, are others like FA better anyone?

Good luck. :)

TFA RY4 Double

Tried it at 2,5%. The taste was very pleasing, sweet with a distinct smooth vanilla taste. It also has a very light sweet caramel taste to it. Will try later at 5% to see how it tastes then. A winner for sure!

I can see this one goes with both fruits, pipe tobaccos and other tobaccos if desired.

TFA DK Tobacco Base

Mixed at 2.5%. The taste is a tad sweet, with a tiny vanilla/citrus taste, and a hint og woody/ashy taste. Good as a base for other tobacco mixes. It is a dry taste, with a hint of sour. Maybe not a single flavor vape, but excellent for mixing with other tobaccos (including pipe tobaccos).

A mix of this and an apple flavor (or other simular fruits) will make a nice blend/juice.
