It is not reasonable, rational, or practical to expect everyone to quit
tobacco smoking without serious and real assistance. Until recently, there has been none. E-cigs represent the most potent tool in that toolbox to date, by far.
Anything less than widely promoting their use as a means of stopping
tobacco smoking, is honestly ensuring the deaths of millions and should represent to any fair minded person, a deeply troubling and disturbed ethical wrong.
As for the safety - its well known nicotine alone does have some more minor health effects (though the nicotine absorbed into the system, from a ruyan ciggarette via studies conducted here in new zealand, were around half -per puff, than that of tobacco smoking - and also much less than the nicotine inhaler).
These minor effects are completely dwarfed by tobacco combustion products - scientists have estimated in one study, that the health effects/risks are roughly one thousanth of that of smoking.
Given the potent addiction of tobacco smoking, e-ciggarettes represent the only rational and objective way to tackle the smoking health epidemic. Anything else represents a vast misunderstanding of the realities of smoking.
