I'm new to e-smoking. I surfed a good deal of the forums and individual sites before I purchased one. Some of you take them apart and have figured out all of its components it seems. Which one of you guys is going to sell the "how to build your own e-cig" instructions [available for download in a .pdf format - get your free adobe reader here] on ebay? I've already seen the - make your own smoke juice - instructions for sale? I haven't order them so my question on that would be - where do you get the nicotine?

Send me the link if the fda bans these and someone gets it up on ebay. Seems like the individual components could be sold and imported from China. Definitely in the state I'm in - Louisiana. We do have a no drinking and driving law as well as an open container law, yet we have drive through daquiri shops. Here, if you have a lid on it and don't actually put the straw in the hole, all is good.

Every instance always seems to turn out to be over an NRT claim. I think there is a lot of overreaction so far.

After taking a look at who Rita Chappelle of the FDA agency is as Head Spokesperson for the Drug Department and reading many of her statements and transcripts--I would not go so far as to use the word "overreacting"--not this time. This is the first time we have heard from her and it will not be the last. As to the scope of what mandates the FDA will take and when they will act, that is the real question.---Sun

Yep I think you're right on this Sun. Pretty funny how Hong Kong just had their big tax increase and the crackdown came. With ours just a couple of weeks away I think we will here something definitive pretty soon on the matter.

If they don't ban the devices themselves and they don't ban 0 nic liquid we can still easily buy cheap tobacco in bulk and extract our own nicotine. I imagine that we'll have to share and post different methods for doing so. It is a pretty simple process that is widely available on the internet.

Bulk tobacco is cheap, especially if you don't care about the quality (which we don't since we'll just be taking the nic out and throwing the rest away).

In the mean time I'll be placing a large order for the highest nic level of juice from that wicked place and keeping it in my fridge in a brown paper bag.

Who knows, maybe the devices and liquid will get approved and we'll all benefit from safer e-cigs. (and much higher prices) -whatever, I've given up thinking the governement will ever do anything that makes sense. I'm just trying to enjoy myself.

:p

That's right Clam--The timing of the big tax increase was key in Hong Kong and I think you are right that it will be key here as well--Sun

Has anyone heard about this semi-related recent FDA 'ban':

FDA Declares Form of Vitamin B6 a Drug, Effectively Banning Pyridoxamine from Dietary Supplements by Mike Adams the Health Ranger

Ouch. Seriously, I think something is generally wrong here.

I still say tobacco companies can only help us. They have money and power, and electronic cigarettes may need both given the recent FDA guerrilla tactics in regards to naturally (and commonly) occurring substances.

Carry on.

stpeters thank you so very much for the link and the information about vitamin B6. I hope everyone takes the time to fill out the petition to prevent Big Pharma from patenting naturally occurring substances. B6 saves diabetics from kidney failure. How could the FDA do this??? And now they might take away the other naturally occurring formulation of B6. So, pleas if you read this go to this link and take the time to fill out this petiton to stop it.

Thank you!!!

Is Big Pharma going to patent Nicotine next?

Only problem there is bulk tobacco is getting hit the hardest with this lastest tax. It's going from a dollar something a lb tax now to $70 a lb come April 1. Our government has got us by the cahuna's on this one.

Thank god I live near an Indian reservation. Where did you hear $70 a lb? That is outrageous! I hope that's a typo.
