I imagine this is why no matter what we do, petitioning whatever, has not been effective. It's a massive cluster feck. Imagine how many other industries go thru this that many aren't aware of...

The GOA (government accountability office) was created to call out systemic failures, and has written tomes on the FDA over the years. Problem is (imo), they have little actual clout to bring about change and when your organization does nothing but call out crappy governmental agencies and processes, the landscape is like crying wolf.

I think the only way to gut these organizations is to pull out the lifetime appointment nature of civil servants, make hiring practices better and more severe - and have a GOA with some teeth.
