Illegal Underage Sales of E-Cigarettes, e-liquids, and Cigars should get a warning letter.
I have to say I was surprised to see a Rite Aid on the list cause in my neck of the woods they demand ID.

Who knows - maybe they are using fake IDs...

Do not ever let that fool you! I've seen first hand, the "state" give someone underage an id, or drivers liscence and send them shopping on our dime! I call this entrapment and have seen many a good friend buried by the state!
I'm not OK with these practices!

Such a waste of taxpayer money.

Yes, it's a shame children can't walk into liquor stores or smoke shops and just buy cigs and a bottle of whatever they want, too. Right? :sarcasm:

Given the law, I resent the B&Ms and such that are selling to underage.

Almost the entire vaping industry, including CAASA, agreed that age limits were acceptable and proper.

It just makes things worse for those who are following the laws when scofflaws ignore the laws.

(BTW, I used to get this same song and dance from people who had puppy mills when we dragged them into court for not following the regulations regarding animal negligence and cruelty......so I am used to dealing with Scofflaws. :)) Some people decide not to come to a full stop at stop signs, too. Whatcha gonna do? They just make it bad for everyone else on the road who are trying to do the right thing.

Not suprised to see the convenience stores on the list but some of the dedicated vape shops did surprise me. They should know better.

I have never been one who has supported age restrictions for vapor products. There is no evidence that they are harmful, or habit forming, so there is no justification for an age restriction. I know that view is not held by everyone. The over extension of the precautionary principle in this instance is the basis for the war on vaping. We don't need to prove there's anything wrong with vaping, we just need to make people think there might be.

I know that, Lessifer. And respect all personal opinions.

However, age restrictions are something that the vaping industry agreed to.

So it's douchey to not abide by what you agreed to do. That's all. Simple.

Of course, any vaping shop that feels the way you do are certainly welcome to take whatever fines they receive, and if they continue, to be closed down or whatever penalties are in store. That is certainly a choice they can make (a bad choice but nevertheless a choice.).

I never advocated that vape shops, or tobacco stores, should ignore the law.

Age restrictions are ineffective at stopping underage use, and in this instance could be more harmful than helpful in regards to overall public health. However, as Robert Cromwell pointed out, politically this is a good move by the FDA. They get to say they're protecting the children, while not actually doing anything to protect the children, and get to spread a little federal money around to fund the operations.

So, I see it as a waste of money. I would prefer that money be spent on investigating the health effects of vaping.

The governments motto:
A waste is a terrible thing to mind.
It's definitely not a waste in their minds. They get to pretend like they're doing something, win brownie points with the general public for protecting the children, flex their muscles with tobacco retailers, and scratch the backs of local law enforcement. It's just a shame that in reality it's pointless.

None are B&M vape stores, which I know have been targeted - at least, in metro D.C. I wonder if the online stores didn't check at all, or if their checks weren't sufficient. I also wonder what constitutes "sufficient," given FDA hasn't bothered to say ...

Interesting that a huge cigar outlet from whom DH purchases his cigars isn't on the list. Their process consists of a self-certification checkbox.

Give 'em time. This first round was just the warning shot across the bow.

Looks like a few of the online retailers need to do a little work on the age verification, but the B&Ms are doing a pretty good job (no vape shops were issued warnings) Most of the violations were gas stations, and c-stores. (they already have issues with selling cigarettes to minors anyway)
Overall, I'd say they did a pretty good job.
So much for "They're marketing these to children!"
