Worse than the original article, but still not terrible. It bothers me to no end how antis keep pushing ecigs into cessation territory (even when faced with very legitimate arguments against that stance).

Even being classified as a cessation device wouldn't bother me unless they jack the prices up to what patches and all of that cost!

Problem is the testing required to get approved along that route, and then of course the requirement to have a 12 week "quit-or-return-to-analogs" program attached to them like other NRTs...or even worse, available by doctor prescription only.

Ah, I see. There is a limited time that you can buy those types of things? I figured that things like the patch, since they are OTC, could be used for as long as one technically wanted to.

Doc prescription would be pretty horrible for those who don't have some sort of insurance or a low budget alternative.

There is no time limit for using OTC NRTs - only recommendations. Many doctors now tell their patients to keep using NRTs as long as they need to stay off the cigs.

Even big Pharma admits that up to 55% of purchases of nicotine gum are by "persistent users."

Oh my god, they say we are Guinea pigs???? We were already being killed by analogs lol, where does guinea pig come into it?

And, OTC NRT success ratings include those who are persistent users of the NRT, the goal is to quit smoking, which they do, but not nicotine. We are proving that ecigs can get you off smoking and even of nic as well.

Problem is, that's not the angle of the FDA, it's to prove it's safe for human consumption in it's own right and not relative to analogs. :grr:
