Actually, this page was first published in 2009, shortly after the FDA held its press conference that turned out to be a "shot heard 'round the world" (think "carcinogens" and "antifreeze").

None of us ever wrote to the FDA to let them know that their picture of how to charge an e-cigarette was hilarious to anyone who knows anything at all about the subject. We were afraid if we told them they were making big fools of themselves, they'd change the picture.

And yes, back then we discussed in ECF whether we should flood them with our success stories in their adverse events system. We decided that if they were truly evil, they would not mention that they got any good reports. They would just add them into their tally of "bad stuff that happens to folks who use those dangerous e-ciggy thingies."

Turns out we were right. Do you see any mention of positive reports in this summary of the 47 reports they received between 2008 and the first quarter of 2012? FDA Summary of Adverse Events on Electronic Cigarettes

I must admit that I did not know that... I started vaping on 4 Nov 2011. In 2009, I was still smoking like a chimney

The FDA sucks. They have had these bald faced lies on their website for the entire time I have been vaping.

As the safety and efficacy of e-cigarettes have not been fully studied, consumers of e-cigarette products currently have no way of knowing:


*whether e-cigarettes are safe for their intended use,
*how much nicotine or other potentially harmful chemicals are being inhaled during use, or
*if there are any benefits associated with using these products.
Additionally, it is not known if e-cigarettes may lead young people to try other tobacco products, including conventional cigarettes, which are known to cause disease and lead to premature death.

They seem to be utterly clueless or intentionally deceptive. Perhaps some combination of the two. These rodeo clowns are a disgrace to public health.

That was done in jest, I didn't fill it out. This is an important topic for all of us to focus on if we are going to remain free to do what we wish without interfering with the rights of others.

I sent this photo to the ombudsman at FDA along with an email including: "My doctor said, based on his own information, that the use of electronic cigarettes should be encouraged, not discouraged—as your web page does. Why don’t you provide an online form to report positive events with electronic cigarettes? Why just negative?" My P.S.: "Attached is a picture of my latest electronic cigarette. It runs on rechargeable batteries. The devices you depict on your web page I bought in 2009 and haven’t used since."

I do not know about 20 years younger,but I do know my skin is prettier and has a nice glow. I am constantly complimented on my skin even by my Dentist and medical Doctors,and even strangers.

Okay everyone do you remember that there was to be a ban on drug companies advertising on television in the U.S. it was supposed to go into effect like 2011.....

Ah like the "Do suffer from depression and you current medication isn't helping" commercials were to all go away...REMEMBER????

Gee Whiz, and this was imposed by the FDA on the drug companies, but oddly enough seems they were only off the air for less than 30 days and right back at it, and now stronger than ever!

"Want to stop Smoking" Ask your doctor about Chantix....may cause suicidal thoughts, attempted suicide, or completed suicide!

Yes that is the way drug companies say their stuff can kill you "completed suicide", yeah like I really trust any government agency that approves crap based on lab rat tests and money stuffed in their pockets!

Have you guys ever REALLY looked over the side effects of what they approve as safe! It's all about money and greed!

They don't want e-cigs legal because of drug companies and tobacco companies jamming money in their pockets!

We really need the FDA to tell us vaping is safe after considerable testing........
