Hmmm...Fairly good article, seemed very objective.

I like the part where the FDA stated that the hardware is legal to possess :)
That's the strange part. If the hardware is legal to possess then why does it get stopped in customs. They will end up finally saying "It's legal to possess but illegal to buy." Is that the stupidest thing you've ever heard? :D

The FDA loves overstepping their legal boundaries - typical of all power-hungry government agencies...

Maybe they mean the hardware parts are legal but not the kits (most kits contain E-juiced cartridges)

I'd actually blame their strange policies as extremely poor management. The right hand never knows what the left hand is doing when it comes to government.

That's why we should privatize the entire government.
muahahahahahah!

Haha that is true - but then we give these incompetent organizations too much power... I totally agree that we should privatize the government - but I'm afraid that this will probably mean a lot of foreign governments are going to take over since American's don't have as much capital/savings anymore....

I think you hit it right on the head.... they will try to cut off supply not possession

Hmmm....Terraphon, I didn't see anywhere in the article where it stated that. 8-o

TnA - It is in the 9th paragraph (if you count each section as a paragraph). :)

It reads "E-cigarette starter kits can cost $100 or more. The cigarette, which is legal to possess, is often made of three pieces: a replaceable nicotine cartridge, an atomizer and a rechargeable battery."

Ahhhh...thank you mamacat! Was looking for that statement in a sentence all it's own!

terra....I completely retract my previous statement!!:p:D However, the reporter is stating that it is legal....that is not a quote from whoever he spoke w/ at the FDA, methinks.

Welcome TnA!! :)

It also says:

"N.C. Sen. William R. Purcell, who sponsored the legislation, said that he had not heard of e-cigarettes until last week. The law defines smoking in part as "any lighted tobacco product," so Purcell thinks the new law, which takes effect Jan. 2, would not apply to e-cigarettes."

Which I think is great news, at least for now. :D

Thanks for sharing!!

I have no problem with foreign governments taking over but I bet I'm alone on that.

I'm just a global citizen.

I would completely agree with you mamacat. I was heartened by those quoted words from Sen Purcell. However, you are keeping in mind that he is referring to the North Carolina legislation and not the recent senatorial legislation approving FDA regulation of tobacco, right?

Here is WA state, you can possess/buy a firearm sound suppressor (silencer), but you can't mount it on a firearm or use it in anyway...Well, I guess you could mod a pv out of one but it would be a $600 project.

THAT is the stupidest thing I've ever heard, consistently with the govt. too in all cases, go figure.

LOL...now that would make for an interesting mod!! Imagine what the anti-tobacco people would say if they saw someone vaping from a silencer....especially if it was attached to a hand-gun! :p
