Hey all, Bulldog44 was contacted by a journalist from the Raleigh News and Observer for an interview about electronic cigarettes. So last week, he (Bulldog44), Cosican, myself, and DragoonZeph conducted one of our regular meetings at a Starbucks to facilitate the interview.

FDA wrinkles its nose at electric cigs - Health & Science - News & Observer

I think the journalist did a decent write-up that was definitely now skewed. One thing I found of interest is that I have a state senator that didn't even know about electronic cigarettes!! While electronic cigarettes are slowing starting to get recognized and known, this tells me that we still have a long way to go in getting the main-stream public up to speed on these devices. I would think a larger, more well-informed public would be far more capable of swaying legislature (through our representatives) than a couple of large companies battling it out in court.

very good article and nice to see one that is't slanted against the ecig. It would have been nice if they would have included the basic ingredients list of the liquid (PG, water, nicotine, and food-grade flavorings) but aside from that...

Made for a refreshing change. Thank you.

I agree OutWest, but the journalist did at least mention that the liquid uses propylene glycol which is used to create smoke-like vapors and the fact that it is not offensive to nearby non-smokers :D

I'm curious why more don't point out that PG is an FDA-approved substance.

CJsKee, all I can do speculate that the majority of journalists don't know enough to even think about doing so.

However, without knowing all the facts, I would also speculate that every ingredient in a tobacco cigarette is also an FDA-approved substance. However, the problem becomes the chemical reaction that is created from burning all of those ingredients and then inhaling them into our lungs and allowing it to get into our blood stream. Who knows, studies may eventually show that some type of chemical reaction occurs through the vaporization process of our nicquids that also create some type of harmful side effect. I'm sure if that ever happens, it will be scales below the level of harm that analogs currently provide....

TnA, you guys did a great job with that interview! Also loved the photo showing the ZiMoshi along with "regular" ecigs.

Thanks yvilla. All the props go to Bulldog44 for setting up the interview. :w00t: The picture of all the mods was one of Cosican's travel packs....that guy is definitely a throat-hit hound and he's definitely got a lot of different e-cigs!!! 8-o
