So, I started almost a week ago and I am vaping more than I smoked. A lot more.

I've stopped smoking since I started vaping. I could smoke a pack of 20 cigarettes within 24 hours.

Im only using a simple vape pen setup with an ego battery and using juice with 24mg nicotine. Im wondering whether I should upgrade my setup or increase the nicotine in the juice.

Thing is, Im happy with the amount of vapour Im getting from the setup im using but after a bit of reading I guess it also comes down to the pg/vg level? At the moment Im at 70/30. The amount of vapour I get from the setup is roughly the same I would do from a cigarette. I was never really one to take long drags. Im going through maybe 2.2-2.6 ml a day. I read somewhere that you get in more nicotine if you keep the vape in your mouth but I just can't. As soon as it hits my lips, the vapour is inhaled.

One thing that has hit my mind is that maybe its just because its there nonstop that Im doing it this much. I don't have to worry about saving it like I did with cigarettes. Im vaping inside while on devices and watching tv so don't have to worry about getting up to go outside.

Honestly, I don't know as Im a beginner but would be nice to get some advice. I don't want to upgrade so soon (Im already thinking of getting a better setup even though Im happy with this one) or up my nicotine if Im just going to vape just as much.

Hi and welcome,
You sound happy, calm and smoke free.
Keep up the good work and congratulations for quitting smoking.

Cheers
I

Im very happy and very smoke free. Not to mention calm as Im not getting the crankyness one would get from withdrawals after quitting as I have in the past. I've tried quitting a few times but always went back to it. Never thought of turning to an alternative such as vaping as an option but it's a lot better and a lot easier to stay away from cigarettes when Im vaping.
Thanks

Congrats on quitting the smokes!

I've been using a similar device for years and only upgraded to a more powerful device a few weeks ago.

I'm not sure if that's the way to go to be honest. I mean, I've always been a sucker for gadgets and find that I enjoy playing with the new device so much that it only makes me vape more!

I don't mind though, I just lowered my nicotine level to almost nothing and enjoy the ride.

You could try a higher nicotine level, but to be honest 24mg is already higher then most seem to use these days. Perhaps you should just set yourself some rules to keep yourself at bay, like no vaping indoors for instance?

Or just stop worrying about it and enjoy your vapor :)

I know that when i first quit I also vaped much more, after a while it dimmed down a bit, perhaps that is the case for you also.

If you are going to upgrade though, I highly recommend a device with temperature control.

Good luck!

Thanks heaps.

So I guess I could just pretty much put it down to it always being available and a new experience.

I really was hoping that someone would recommend not increasing the nicotine. I was aiming to eventually go down to no nicotine at all (Not in a rush though) and wasn't really keen on having to increase it especially when I have a a few liquids on the way (I'd say about a months supply with the way Im vaping).

I'll do as you said and stop worrying about it as I do quite enjoy it. Especially the flavour. I only ordered one at the start as I didn't know if I would take to it or not but as I said, I have a few on the way.

2.6ml a day I can only wish! I am up to 15 - 20ml per day. But watching Mod Envy last night and one host vapes 70ml a day. I feel better now. LOL You are doing good. The way I look at it is I smoked for 42 years so I still have 38 years to get to zero nicotine. CHEERS!

Thanks for this. Now I don't feel bad at all about the amount of liquid that I have vaped

You're doing fine. When I first started vaping, I too played choo-choo and never put the device down. 3 years later, I still have days where it seems the mod is a permanent attachment to my hand. :D

It definitely felt like a permanent attachment to my hand today. Thanks for the reassurance

You're doing great! It's quite common for new vapers to hang on to the rig like it's a life ring, to stave off the cravings. It should taper off some in a while. Many people use, and like, the eGo type batteries. You don't say what tank is on it, but most kits come with one of the disposable plastic ones, something like a CE4. There's nothing wrong with that-- especially if its keeping you off the sticks!-- but this equipment is not generally regarded as top drawer. You can get much the same vape, and probably better flavor, from a rig like an iStick 30 and an Aspire Nautilus tank. An iStick Pico would be an upgrade on the 30, get you into removable batteries-- a fixed battery machine is trash when the battery goes, but with a removable you can just swap to a new battery; and you don't have to plug it into the wall when the battery is dead if you have a charged spare-- and offers a lot more power than you need right now in case you decide to experiment later. If you really like the "pen style" form factor, a better battery is an Innokin VV, which pairs well with the Nautilus Mini.

All that's just a thought. As I said, there's nothing wrong with what you have. In fact, go get another one. That way you can vape one while the other charges. I started with eGo batteries, and that's what I did.

Welcome Hellivioze!

Congrats! Running through 2-3mL/day isn't bad at all. And yes, when I first started, it seemed like I couldn't put my vape down. If you're not smoking, you're doing well!

Make yourself at home :)

:vapor:

I guess that is the main point. That Im not smoking and that this is the whole reason why I started vaping in the first place

After 3 years, I still vape way more than I ever smoked. I didn't smoke in the house, so for me it was a trip to the garage or back porch, regardless of weather, every hour or so. When I started vaping and could puff away in the house, I pretty much kept it within reach all the time. I keep telling myself that I need to start tapering off on the nic level, but it's still at 12 mg/ml, same as when I started, even with vastly improved devices over the years.

Thank you. It is just a CE4 tank but Im happy with it especially as a beginners device. Even before it arrived I started looking at better products as I did a bit more reading into it and the istick 30 was one of the ones that I had my eye on. And funny enough, So was the Aspire Nautilus tank after watching and reading a few reviews. I just didn't know if upgrading to anything was a wise choice especially when Im happy with what I have but it is really tempting.

Thank you heaps for the suggestion on the innokin VV as I do like the "pen style" form factor. I've also had a look at a Kangertech Subvod starter deck. Would this work well with a nautilus tank as well?

I am about to buy another one just like the one I have as the battery runs out at the worst times but I am also loving the battery time on it too. That backup would be great

Hi @hellivioze

You sound like you are doing OK... good job. :)

A few comments. (I'll try to be precise and talk about general stuff).

20 cigs a day is/was not that heavy compared to some. The 2-pack smokers often used 36mg even, but that was with early tech hardware.

Using a low-power device, 24mg was at one point in time a very popular strength.

I would say that we have a lot of evidence to say the most widely-used strength when these devices (eGo e-cigs) were the talk of the community (2012/13) that 18mg was the more common (of the two).

These days, people think of 18mg as quite strong and 24mg as almost insanity... I can assure you it is not.
The early days vaping are tough and it's not just the Nicotine.

If it's working, keep vaping.

From what I've seen and heard (and read) if we consider you are vaping the same as the eGo/clearomizer vapers back in 2012/13 then 18 or 24 was normal and 2-3ml is actually a little lower than many.

f.w.i.w. I used 18mg, an eGo and cartomizers/clearomizer/cartotanks.

3ml was what it took. I never managed to stop with 24mg cig-a-likes and campaign against them to this day. We need them on sale, but they are not good, really.

It actually took the e-cig industry a while to make a battery and tank that was able to emit as much Nicotine as a cigarette and even with that level in the vapor, the yield to the user was never able to lift the blood-level of Nictoine to match smoking.

Basically, it's highly likely that no e-cig can solve cravings 100%. You have to keep yourself 'topped up' to even out your Nicotine over a day and will never get the 'high' of a smoke.... that's why many people quit vaping and say it's rubbish.

This has been me for pretty much the last week. If its not in my hand its in my shirt pocket where when I smoked, it was a trip to the side door which had a bit of shelter regardless of weather or standing half out the sliding door which didn't have shelter at all, stood half in half out when it was raining
