Katonik, most of this is not a direct response to anything you have personally said.

It's dumb to treat it like smoking, but if people choose to be ignorant, aggravating them with trying to change their opinions will not help matters either.

It's not about people choosing to be ignorant about e-cigs, they are ignorant about e-cigs. Guess what, they aren't wrong to be ignorant about them. The big problem I have is with vapers who somehow think that some guy on the street not knowing anything about e-cigs is somehow at fault. That's crap, plain and simple, and is a very poor attitude for the vaper to have.

If I am just some guy, or better yet a protective mother, standing in a public place where smoking is prohibited and some guy in front of me blows out a plume of what appears to be smoke, how is she supposed to react? Just because she doesn't actually say anything to the vaper about it (which is much more likely caused by a reluctance of conflict than disinterest or tacit approval) doesn't mean that she isn't concerned about it.

How is she wrong for not identifying the plume of "smoke" as relatively harmless (we hope) vapor? She's not.

If someone here walks through their local Wal-Mart openly vaping away without a care in the world and without explicit permission from the manager to do so, they are being inconsiderate. Period. The fact that "no one said anything" doesn't change anything.

I am all for politely educating others about PVs and I am all for vaping in non-smoking establishments with permission. I also don't have a problem with stealth vaping in public places because 1) I don't believe that the vape is harmful, 2) the vapor dissipates very quickly and 3) no one is being offended by it. It's this all-too-common "I'll vape where I want to and if they don't like it then too bad" attitude I see on display all too often that I do have a problem with.

I vape in Walmart, but only when I'm in an empty isle or anyone else is far away and busy looking at something. If there are others around I stealth vape and/or blow the vapor into whatever drink I am sipping from. I used to HATE the weekly 2 hour trips to Walmart with my 7 yr old, you can only look at the same toys for her to spend her $5 allowance on for so long without your brain melting. Since I have Fibro I'm usually in pain from all the other errands I've run that day, and I'm tired and ready for dinner. I used to be a total ....h by the time we were in line and I could leave hubby there to pay and run outside for a cig. Now, I am able to stay much calmer, deal with my pain better, and tolerate frustration more by vaping occassionally. I think if we see someone give us a dirty look when we blow out vapor as they come around the isle unexpectedly, we should calmly tell them that it's a nicotine inhaler that we're using to quit smoking and if they have any questions go on from there.

I just treat it like an analog mostly except I will use it in the bathroom at work so I don't have to go outside to smoke anymore. I figure people who can't stand smokers and have to have something to complain about I don't want their attention to my vapor and causing problems. I am descreat in public. I don't want more problems than necessary. But I do try to educate people who ask how I am quitting smoking.

I just do it. What's the absolute worst that can happen? An employee at the place of business come up to you, says something like "sir(or madam), there's no smoking here." and you explain what it is. Then they either say oh it's ok or sorry you still can't do that. No biggie! I wear my PV proudly around my neck, and take a draw on it where ever I am when the mood strikes me. I even vaped in a hospitial emergency room! I was behind a curtain at the time though :)
