I use V4L premium cartos with an adapter for my 510 batteries for work and driving (I tried the 510 cartos but they flavor seems even more diminished vs. the V4L premiums). Doing anything else, I drip using the 510 atty. The taste is so much better with the atty.

I used to fill cartridges for work, but have had it flood the atty one to many times. I am running outside for a few puffs and need it to work without fiddling around.

Whoever came up with spinning cartos needs kicked in the jewels. Use a condom and be done with it..........I mean seriously you put a towel in a bucket of water it's only going to soak up so much water........ common sense eludes some people.

I still like to vape a carto occasionally but once you master dripping with a drip tip.....it's hard to vape any other way. Figure dripping 3-4 drops is a bout the same as pulling out a lighter and lighting a cig. Flavor cannot be beat.

I haven't had much luck with attys. I started out with the blue and had no problems other than batty life, but when I moved up to the 510 I noticed a very metallic undertone to every juice I tried, especially when dripping. Now I admit I may be sensitive to metals, I couldn't use a SS drip tip because it tasted like I was sucking on a penny. But, I think it may also have to do with the slightly higher voltage bringing out more of the metal taste from the attys.
All that being said, I moved on to cartos and I think they have very good flavor. As far as convenience goes, yes you do have to plan ahead. BUt I have read were many people use a drip tip with cartos but instead of 2 or 3 drops you can top off less often with 10 drops, so I would think it would be less hassle.

I've been wondering the same thing about the difference, pros and cons of carts vs cartos. I'm using carts right now, and actually thinking of just buying a drip tip and settling at that. Read about cartos being easier for the newbie, but they look like a hassle IMO

I think the sentiment that for a newbie pre-filled cartos are less over whelming. And there is some truth to that. The catch is that most pre-filled cartomizers taste like .....

As far as cartos vs. dripping, I too prefer the taste and economy of dripping; just seems more pure and I agree with the OP that more juice is needed for filling cartos. Or at least it appears that way.

Only down side of dripping is the mess. No matter how careful I am there is still a goopy gloss over everything I touch.

You guys are making this whole refilling cartos thing waaaay more difficult than it needs to be.

For me?

Drip 4 drops into the hole in the bottom. Shake shake. 4 more. Shake shake. 4 more. Shake shake.

Done. It takes all of 30 seconds, and now I don't have to do jack for the next 3-4 hours.

None of this taking the top off, using a syringe, spinning it, letting it set, whatever. It doesn't need to be that complicated.

I am leaning towards giving this a try. You make sense and my experience so far has been the same. It's a fargin mess, juice gets everywhere, sometimes when you take the cap off it sucks the juice back out, etc.

By hole in the bottom do you mean at the mouthpiece or the battery end?

And only 3 refills? Man, what are you guys doing to those cartos? You must be vaping them to death before you refill...

I think there are a lot of variables at play here; type of cartomizer, what kind of juice (PG/VG) voltage, etc.

And of course just randomness. I have a few carts that are on about their 6th refill and are good as new. Others I only refllled once and it was like sucking on a water logged sock.

to fill cartos u dont have to drip down the side and spin just take one of the rubber caps it comes with and put some drops in there and push the cap on slowly... the convenience in cartos come when u have to but attys and carts and the atty goes bad while ur out etc....the atty cart method which was my first Pv was much more of a hassle with me and i got more vapor and TH with the Carto...

Both attys and cartomizers have their own place in our little vapeing world. I use both.

Dripping tastes better it has a nice clean taste most all the time is faster and less hassle. Leaking is a problem if dripped too full and it should not be done while driving at all. Also I have blown alot of attys on my 5volt devices.

Cartomizers last alot longer, never leak and are great when you are driving or on the run flat out busy and don't wanna stop and drip every couple of minutes. Also they don't seem to pack it in on 5volt devices.

We can have our cake and eat it too! :D

the coil in cartos does seem to be much more robust than most attys, in my experience. they can take a beating!

i also use both. and like them both. (510s, btw) when my cartos start to maybe taste weird or stop performing as well as i'm used to, i'll try to pull the filler out. half the time the sock/wind tunnel comes out with it and i'll toss the whole thing. when it doesn't, i can then drip down the side (around 5-10 drops) and use it that way. it works pretty darn well. Dr. Vapor has a video about it on vapetv, but i believe the original video on the topic comes from dogsbody (youtube it).

with my attys it's all dripping, all the time, which is certainly more difficult when driving (you actually start to not mind red lights so much!)

just tossing in my 2 cents :)

oh! when i'm refilling cartos i usually go with the condom method. just push it down slowly till i see juice starting to come out of the battery connector end, back it off ever so slightly, let it sit there (with the condom on) for about 2 mins, then take it off, wipe off the outside, pop on my drip tip (i love the feel of em) and i'm good to go for a bit.

for the most part I much prefer atties and carts..there are a few exceptions but even those have a downside..
the first being the eGo mega cartomizer...they draw nice and last a long time...but are messy to refill and no way to look inside to see how empty/full the thing is..

the second being cartomizers at 6V because they are much cheaper when you burn them out...and are pretty good for driving...but you gotta keep em good and wet so you gotta bring your juice anyway...(a drip tip on a carto solves the having to disassembpe it problem though)

over all cartos (with the exception of the eGo one) have much less vapor than atties and a muted off taste

Condom method has always been messy for me too, and come to think of it I do get that plasticy taste with cartos. Seems I can't time the draw properly, like there's a delay between hitting the button and vapor production with them, and the airy draw in the beginning always contains a taste of the inside of the carto instead of my juice.

I do see the benefits of using cartomizers for driving. Waiting for a stop light to redrip is sometimes inconvenient but I do have the timing down to a science lol.

So far it's looking like largely just a preference thing. Wondering though, does anyone else notice a larger juice consumption rate with cartos as opposed to dripping?

I like cartos because I have each one dedicated to a different flavor, depending on what I'm in the mood for.

I like carts and juice box also.

Dripping is ok but seems like high maintence for me always having to have a juice bottle handy. Someone suggested cartomizers with drip tip combination and that sounds like it would work better and longer.

Using the cartos, I have one of those plastic syringes from Intellicig and pop it thru the top hole and force the juice in. This syringe seals at the hole and forces the juice nicely into the carto. No muss, no fuss.

I have the cartos labeled and put them in to one bin when they need filling and whenever I'm in the mood, I refill them all again.

I don't care for the lack of flavor/TH in the prefilled ones but I just juice them up with some of my great juice flavors and they are good to go.

I still use carts with Fluval filling quite often, especially on eGo which does not leak like the 510's do on occasion. They seem to have the best dependable flavor, TH, and vapor.

The Mr. Puffer juicebox is the easiest and most convenient for hassle-free juicing. I do use both hands, one on feed bottle and one on button, if I want volumes of vapor and super TH. It's new so I don't have the technique down very good yet.

By the way, I yet to have a carto "go bad" with using them in rotation and keeping them juiced up.

Yup, in the battery end. Put a drop on there and the carto will "suck" it in.

I add 4 at a time, and give a quick shake, up to 12-16 drops depending on how dry it got.

There's a "happy medium" shake where juice gets redistributed, but doesn't come sputtering out the mouthpiece either. I also sometimes give a real quick, gently blow in the batt end to clear the coil.

Once mastered, it's the quickest, easiest, least messy way I have found. You literally need nothing but the carto and juice, and it works.
