Do you have any breathing or heart troubles? Consistent edema (swelling) of the feet is what we call Pedal Edema. It can be a sign of Congestive Heart Failure or CHF as it's known. You should go to a doctor and get checked out. It could just be that you're retaining fluid, or it could be something worse.

I recommend that you see your doctor. It is possible as a side effect of abstaining from nicotine. I have had this coincide with vaping/giving up cigarettes, but I cannot attribute it to any specific thing. However, being immobile at the computer is certainly not helpful. Support bandages and planned exercise may be beneficial.

Best,
C.

Dehydration can cause edema (water retention), so drinking water's a good idea. (Alcohol can also worsen edema.)

Exercise can help a lot, even just walking. (I have a treadmill with a homemade laptop desk on top. :) Miles a day while I vape and surf!)

Get your thyroid and glucose/insulin tested when you're at the doctor next, just to be sure.

I've made two -- one at my place and one at my boyfriend's -- but they're not aesthetically appealing at all! (Nor are their settings...basements.:p)
One was a give-away treadmill from a friend and the other I bought on Craigslist for $75. On one I used a sheet of Plexiglass and on the other I used a board of 3/4" thick lumber. Glued the Plexi/lumber to risers made of stacked strips of (safe) blue insulation foam, and bungee-corded it to the treadmill panel. A flat desk was created with access to the treadmill panel underneath - a bit awkward but highly functional.

Google "treadmill desk" or "treadputer" for ideas, though. There's a lot of people out there who have made very impressive set-ups.

Nowadays you can also buy the "SurfShelf" on Amazon and elsewhere, and it straps to your treadmill or exercise machine of choice for a ready-made laptop platform.

IMO, the greatest invention ever for the sedentary web surfer. I work out regularly but I hate sitting and typing for hours.

Turns out it was just the chair. Once I got my lard-... out of it, the swelling went down. Middle-age sux.

That's an awesome idea. Exercise without leaving the house, or turning off the computer! I've been outside before: The graphics are awesome, but the game-play is kinda boring.

ECF Edema. I had that about 2 weeks in when I was trying to read every thread on this site. Get checked by a doc just in case. Then get out of that chair! It really is dangerous. Not worth developing a clot.
Great idea on the treadmill Madame. Mine is going there tomorrow!

Update:
Too easy, slid right into the book holder and I attached a safety strap.
I walked 3/4 of a mile before I even got a connection this morning!
Merry Christmas!

I need one of those shelves for my exercise bike.

bought it a couple years ago when having the same issue as the OP. Had gone from being active and working all the time to spending to much time working from home on the pc and my feet/ankles were swelling horribly. long before getting into vaping though.

used the bike quite often at first, but then the novelty of it wore off and the swelling stopped it has sat there holding coats ever since. one of those shelves would be just the right thing to get me to start using it again while spending so much time on this forum lol

I am going to bump this thread back to the top because I too have noticed some swelling on my left ankle and foot. I started vaping about 3 weeks ago and totally quit analoges about 2 weeks ago. Just in the last couple of days I noticed the swelling. Nothing drastic but it is there with no pain. Maybe I too am someone who has spent too much time sitting at my desk reading this forum.

Get your thyroid checked out - mine was hypER and I got swelled feet (actually more calves than feet but it kinda spreads) - pills from the doc helped a TON and since Ive cut down drastically on smoking my circulation has improved a lot and no more swelling at all unless Im being super lazy and then its just from not moving around enough (and even then its hardly noticable from waht it was).
Though you have one side only for your swollen foot - are you sitting with one foot tucked underneath you? Or corssing your legs so the back of your knee is pressed against the other knee? That causes swelling in us 'over 21s'
