One of my fave pictures of my crazy female cat-rescue from the streets of Philly(when you work at a vet's, you tend to bring home the strays...I keep it at a reasonable limit now-2 cats and 1 dog)-she's too chubby now to sit on hub's shoulder anymore

I'm probably going to be kicked out of the thread for this, but I really don't care for cats, I'm a dog person. Don't get me wrong, cats are fine animals, for other people, just not me. I've got a herd of feral cats living in my neighborhood, they pee on my porch constantly. I've tried behavior modification, but I don't know if it's working just yet.

 Did you quit ...... on the porch? (Then it's working..)

Seriously, I tried that. Well, not that exactly, but...lemme explain.

In my subdivision, we have various wild animals, racoons, possums, and feral cats. One day I was watching TV and a baby possum was just wandering around my kitchen. I chased it out, and then did a search for pest repellent. The one thing everyone said that works is urine. So I bottled some of mine, and sprayed the bushes, (neighbors get upset when I do it straight from the tap), and it really didn't have much effect. I picked up some coyote urine, (I'm still wondering how they get those coyotes to pee in those small bottles...), and that worked...for a while.

That's when I figured I'd try behavior modification. So far the only thing I've accomplished is getting One Ear to pee on my car, instead of the porch.

I love me some Cat's and Dog's..... I had a Snow Bengal cat named LeMew for years and then rescued a beautiful Pitt Bull named Izzy a couple years ago. It took LeMew a few months to accept having a very active puppy around him, but soon the two became good friends. Last summer on July 3rd, LeMew went missing. He was always an outdoor kitty who loved chasing bunnies in our yard but always stayed around the house. I am not 100% sure, but I am pretty sure an owl that was hanging around our neighborhood at the time got him. Izzy acted very sad for quite some time not having her buddy around. We all miss him and have been thinking about rescuing a cat to bring home to Izzy but have not bit that bullet yet.

Here are the two of them playing on the cat house.... (Izzy figured that out how to climb the thing right away when we got her which made the cat a bit mad at first, but soon enough LeMew started sharing it.)

Then they just became great buddies.....

My kitty evaded going to the vet today. Even though I took the cat carrier out a week ago, she still knew she was supposed to go today and hid under the bed. I've had to take my mattress off before to get my cat out and I decided I'm not doing that again. Hence, no post-dental check up for her today.

yes. darn I can not catch that cat. there is some thing about me that she reads. run and hide. I tried to sneack up on her all calm like... nope. I tried to chase her into the bath room... nope.. I made a block of card bord boxes in the hall. she flew over them in a most spectacular fashion. cats...there is no fooling them!

I gave up and called the vet. not coming. sat down and 3 mins latter kitty walks up and jumps on my lap.

My cat lives with my mom.... she's mostly siamese. She can't live with me because I developed allergies shortly after my move and because I have lotsa doggies that will probably eat her. Jazzy is a very naughty kitty, as I found out the very day I got her. She was so tiny, only five weeks old! I rescued 'her highness' from the pound. she left a ginormous scratch from my right shoulder to the left side of my chest on the way home from the pound. Now six yrs later Mama must catch the cat with a blanket and squash her into the box for her shots and such. Very antisocial kitty. But I love her, She'll always be my special kitty. Even if she makes me sneeze.

Hello peeps, I guess I just follow you folks everywhere.

Our house is ran by a cat and a Rottweiler, the cat is going on 4 years old now and the Rott is an adorable 6 month old baby at 65 pounds and gaining. We have an outside dog as well (some kinda Sheppard mix) , she is a rescued country roamer we have had for 10 years and does not like to be cooped up inside.

The cat did not like the Rott pup at first but now has her trained and is accepting at least.

When my girl was still with us I had an infallible cat call. No matter where she was or what she was doing as soon as I turned on the electric can opener BAM there she was trying to jump on the counter.

I even kept that stupid can opener long after it wouldn't open cans because she still came running for the noise.

Another photo of my girl, Maui (she was already named when I got her).

She is a breed called a Desert Lynx. She is also poly-dactyl. She acts more like a dog than a cat, and even plays fetch.

This was my first look at her. She was listed on Craigslist as a Manx, but this was the photo I received in my email when I asked about her, so I drove about 90 miles round trip to bring her home.

The breeder gave her to me because she was returned by the person who bought her. The husband hated her and made the wife take her back.

She was just coming into heat and the breeder had her (Maui's, not the breeder's) father and brother on site and was desperate to get her out of the house. She was being kept in the bathroom that this photo was taken in.

The only stipulation was that I didn't receive papers on her, and that I had to get her spayed. I had no issue with either, so I got an expensive cat who is a great companion animal, for nothing.
