I like to max out my VG, and add distilled water to thin my mixes. The ratios vary depending on the mix since I'm going for max VG. As a general rule, I like to have 10-15% 'watery things', such as distilled water, PG, or alcohol. For example -

Mix 1

10% Flavor A PG
5% Flavor B VG
1% Flavor C Alcohol

This is a 10% PG ratio, so I would add ~ 5% water to thin the mix and the rest would be VG.

Mix 2 -

10% Flavor A VG
2% Flavor B Alcohol
1% Flavor C PG

Since this is 97% VG, I would add ~7-10% distilled water to thin it properly.

As for why I do this, it just feels better. Maybe I'm sensitive to PG, and I don't mean to offend any PG users, but PG is just really annoying on my mouth/throat. It's not so much a throat hit as it is a dry, scratchy irritant. As for the myths that VG clogs coil and mutes flavors, those haven't been true in my case at all. I've experimented with flavor %'s remaining the same between a 50/50 blend and a max VG blend, and the only difference was the slightly sweet nature of VG. I then tested out the clogged coil myth with a 90%VG/10% distilled water unflavored mix. The juice was crystal clear, tasted slightly sweet, and the coil has been running smooth for 2 weeks now.

I remember when I first started vaping and ordered a bunch of 50/50 blends and some 80VG blends. They both worked good but I preferred the 80VG because, as a new vaper, I was obsessed with clouds. Anyway, I got my hands on some Halo juice a bit later and just hated it. It dried my mouth out instantly and really annoyed my throat. Again though, it wasn't like a nicotine throat hit where it's satisfying and 'controlled' so to speak. It was more lingering and scratchy, and the dryness that it brought with it was too annoying to bear. It dawned on me that I couldn't select a ratio at their website, so I asked around and most people were saying that they use up to 80%PG in their mixes, so for me that was what really solidified my hunch that I'm probably PG sensitive.

Great post aheadatime!, yea the th is scratchy on the throat when I have mixed up 70/30 PG/VG's it did however seem to me to enhance the flavor.
I made some 90%Vg w/a 10% DW for my daughter in law and tried vaping that and yea, the clouds were huge but I didn't get much flavor I, for the most part run 10% for RY1 -RY4 and 12 to 16% flavoring for most everything else however I had to bump the flavor to about 35% on her 90/10 before I could get a good flavor hit. haven't tried PGA to my mixes yet.
I started mixing my own juice about 2 or 3 weeks into vaping because of the retail cost of juice's.
I paid about $60 for a total of a gallon of PG/VG (1/2 gallon of each) where I live Vape shops want approx. $6 to $8 bux a bottle of juice so it didn't take long before I said screw that I can make my own, haven't looked back since! LOL

Until recently, roughly 40/60 VG/PG, just because it was convenient. Now I'm using 100% VG, due to some physical reactions I believe are from PG.

100% VG vapes fine through my cartos and tanks. I use EVODs, ProTank, various mini tanks, various low-resistance cartomizers. I get massive plumes of vapor, somewhat obnoxious, and I wish I could tone that down a bit.

I keep a bottle of base liquid at my desired nic strength, already thinned with tap water. My tap water is extremely pure, no need for distilled here. I don't really measure the water, just add it until the base is good and thin, like PG. I use this bottle plus flavorings to make my juices in smaller bottles.

When I want throat hit, I can produce plenty with several different flavorings (FA's Jamaican Rum is my favorite for this) or by adding a little pure grain alcohol to my recipe. I usually don't. I like sweet flavors, and I'm actually preferring my recipes in all-VG base.
