Today I posted a column about how it's sometimes awesome for female vapers...and it sometimes sucks. In many ways, female vapers are treated like female gamers, comic book fans, tech nerds, etc. Many vaping guys will find vaping gals attractive, but some vape dudes automatically dismiss female vapers (building skills, mech knowledge, etc.).

A lot of guys don't like girls who can build ANYTHING better then they could. Ask my husband. He insists on putting the childrens bikes together every time they get a new one, and what winds up happening is that I need to do it over again. Yet, he won't just let me do it in the first place. Same thing with my daughter's crib. His nephew and himself spent all day trying to put that thing together, and wound up with pieces that couldn't be attached because the screws weren't long enough. Wound up, they used the longer ones they needed on another part of the crib, I had to take apart whatever they already built, and put it back together again myself, at 8 months pregnant. =/ I wish he'd just save the time and frustration and just let me do it. He doesn't mind my taking care of his vape gear, but when it comes to BUILDING anything, he's gotta do it.

Well it was a female vaper that got me started, I mean I was vaping disposables before her. Now she calls me Vape Snob cause I went off the rails and started building and collecting so ya can't win.

And that is a horrible picture of me and Jenee well she always takes awesome pics.

I work in IT and I have 4 people vaping here right now. I passed the info that Jenee gave me, on to them, though not as well as she would. Anyways we always have this conversation in technology, why are there not more women? Because it can be hostile, but I am seeing a change.

See it is usually one loud mouth, truth is men like women and they are starting to speak up now as well. I see that, I cope better. It ain't about boys vs. girls anymore, it is about human beings against the loud mouth jerk. Just my thoughts and in is topics like this that keep things getting better. Hell I like men, I don't want a small group making me paranoid.

Funny you mention this. I am literally all of those things "manly": Female, "recovering" gamer, comic book fan, mathematician, computer geek, firearms collector and shooting sports enthusiast, and last but not least, a mechanical mod lovin', coil rebuildin' mad woman. In all of those forums, I've had my share of misogynistic attitude from a very select sample of the population. There is, unfortunately, always a man who just MUST feel undermined by a woman capable of at least (or greater than, even) his capabilities.

Anyone who gets to know me for just a couple minutes is smart enough to know that I won't and don't care about that type of attitude, and will promptly put such a person in their place, not by yelling or argument, but by merely befriending and allying with the other 99% of the male population who appreciates a woman who can do as well or better than them, and enjoy the company of the "fairer sex" who treats them as equals and gives the same. I never attempt to "show up" a misogynistic person. I merely rock my skills and friendly, sharing attitude about hobbies that are my passion. Makes a pig even less popular than they already are.

I have not found myself looked down on in any way here. At least not yet :p
It seems to be the opposite. If a guy is a jerk about women building whatever, they are a jerk....period. Not just in this respect but in all aspects.

I've seen a tinge of "borderline dismissive" attitude toward me (being female) on one time, small occasion here (ok, flat out ignored and dismissed due to gender, I'm too nice to call it what it was). But, of course, I don't consider that the overall attitude of ECF members at all. It was a "one-off" poopy head grumpy person, I think. Water off my back. There's still thousands of other members here who care about each other with whom I'd much rather associate. I got a million other things that are more important with which to invest my time and energy.

Well as one of those female vapers I can say that I've run into some male vapers who clearly didn't like it that I was building RBA's and using a mech, and knew what I was doing. One of them was overtly hostile to me because (I found out later) he could not manage to build an RBA, and he worked at a vape store. He treated me very badly there, and it got bad enough at one point I never went back. I talked to his manager, who would do nothing about it, so there's another one. Meh!

Conversely, at another B&M was a great guy who totally supported me in what I was doing, and told others I knew what I was doing and was happy to show me new tricks. So while there are some with attitudes about female vapers, there are some pretty spiffy guys out there too. It's a mixed bag. There are some guys out there who see vaping, and especially rebuildables, as male territory and resent any female intrusion into that. They are best disregarded and avoided.

You should have seen the reaction I got here when I said I gave my wife a mech mod. You would think I just told everyone I handed a 3 year old child a loaded gun. The reaction was nothing short of insane, with barely educated armchair experts trying to spout off their ohm's Law nonsense.

They never could explain why a mech mod with a Kick and a retail coil was dangerous. It's not, and they know it, they just didn't have the balls to say "I'm misogynistic and don't believe women should have mech mods."

Very entertaining thread while sitting here at my work desk getting nothing done!

I've got nothing against female vapers, in fact it's more an attractive attribute if they know what they're talking about and even more so if they know what they're doing! I don't see why people don't think they should be doing it, females were and are smokers just as we were at one point, so why not vapers? Sure they might bedazzle or deck out their mods differently, but that's a form of expression, who cares. Vape on ladies! :vapor::toast:
