Fibers in 510 atty

From what I've read and understand in the bridge of the atty are little fibers that wick up the fluid. Correct? Well I noticed the more you use the atty they start to get longer and fall onto the part of the atty that turns red hot when the button is pressed causing them to burn and add a horrible taste to the vape in addition to giving a slight headache from burning fibers.

Anyone know of a way to keep these from possibly getting longer to the point where I have to grab my tweezers and pull the long (roughly quarter inch-ish) fiber out of the bridge? I'm going to lose all my wicking fiber. Will it still work without the wicks if I end up losing them all due to getting long?

Is this from a lack of cleaning and letting dry out? I pretty much always have a cart attached to it with liquid in it and have not rinsed the atty once in the 2 weeks I've had it. My other atty crapped the bed when I cleaned it so it has me paranoid until I get my new one in the mail.

I couldn't answer cause I'm a firm believer in not cleaning myself

LOL you should really consider a shower every once in a while, if not for you, but the people around you hahahah sorry made me laugh...

anyways.. that is odd they are just falling out... they look pretty stuck in there on my 901.. even though I know they are different. Maybe it's a faulty atty? Has it happened to others?

My other atty died after I attempted to clean it after 3 days of use, so I've been using this one for a longer time and haven't cleaned it. So I don't know if it happens with any other attys.

the wick is already in contact with the coil so dont remove it. the taste is more likely loose poly from the cart or scorching when the cart gets to dry. make sure to top off this model often till you get the feel of when it is drying on ya.

The little wicks in a new atty aren't hanging off of the bridge of the atty onto the part of the atty that heats up and now they are getting really long and just laying on it and I can taste them burning no matter how much juice I put in there.

the thing is that the coil is wraped around the wick. you cant get more contact than that. but if you look at the filler in the cart you may see a point where it singeing. its also possible that the bridge is off center and comming into contact with the cart itself. i've read that you can gently put back into position with tweezers if thats so.

I have only one 510 atomizer and when new I did notice the wick ( aromatic polymide) fibres sticking out...It's the only model of atomizer i have seen with so many wick fibres flailing about. if you pull them out , the perfomance will drop. I think having so many fibres in the wick is part of the design of the atty
Bigger wick , more juice held, more vapour produced per puff.

good idea in principle but an inherant design flaw is too many wick fibres fouling the atomizer.

you could always try some narrow scissors and trim up the fibers rather than try to pull them out.

Dunno I removed all of them in my 510 atty, I haven't tried this on a new atty but the performance is the same without the fiberglass wick. The atty I removed them from is 7 days old and had drpd off in performance anyway. On the plus side the burnt taste is gone completely. There is a slight bit of burnt aftertaste from the previous fibers though. I'm personally happy with the vapor to flavor/non burnt taste trade off. I'm not getting the Terraphon Pink Floyd fog show anymore, but I wasnt getting it with the wick either. I'm takin 3 sec button presses and still getting respectable vapor and hit. They prlly aren't getting longer, cause I had a real easy time pulling them out. There is a flat metal support underneath the mesh wick and the fibers are only being held between the support and the mesh bridge. Its prlly the heat making the bridge contract and expand, which causes the grip on the fibers to loosen and shift. The fibers are only on one side and a slight bit sticks out of the opposite side you prlly can grab them on the other side and pull them back the trim them on that side instead of trying to dig down near the coil and cutting them on that side.

I am so glad I found this post. I have been getting a bad taste in my 510 ever since I bought it.. At first I thought it was the ry4 it came with, so I steam cleaned it and it was better for a few drags...I went back to my 4081 because I couldn't stand the taste anymore, 2bad because it produces a tremendous amount of vapor..Im gonna try pulling the mesh out now... I'll post results... Is the Dura the same way?

Removin the fibers is kinda a last resort to get rid of the burnt taste. There is a small performance drp if you do so and takes a bit for the burnt taste to go away. I recomend to soak the atty in warm water for a cpl of hours to clean it a bit. It seems once this burnt taste gets baked in the atty it is always gonna be there. I still havent tried the fiber removal on a new atty yet. Just make sure you dont remove the metal mesh cause your atty wont function without that. I'm having fairly good results using peroxide (h202) to bubble out the trash out of my old attys. They are on the home stretch anyway so if they die I have already got my use out of them. I'm gonna try to keep the fibers adjusted with tweezers on the next atty see if I can avoid them getting in the coil on the next new atty.

I also now seem like I'm getting a little less vapor now that I pulled a couple of them out...

I have seen a few of these threads. Not as long as the one's your
stating. I drip alot at work, so I cleaned mine by soaking in Alcohol for 15
minutes. I let it dry overnight. I pulled a thread or two. I dripped a few drops of 36mg, put on fresh cart, oozing liquid, and fired it up. Great vapor.I did the same process with my npro mini attys and they all lasted. Out of 8 I only had one go to the grave. Thats all I can tell you. I've
given mine a bath once in a while and they work for me.
