PBusardo is also on board.

Not sure at this time as he has pulled the video and posted on his website about holding his opinion at this time. He will be in Miami Beach this weekend at a vape meet and will post more when he comes back. As he said he is kind of cranky right now about this but didn't go into detail as of yet.

Hey all! I haven't yet entered all my info, but I will later tonight when I have more time. However I did change my signature to include the Free To vape banner :thumb:

Anyone interested in using it to spread the word just copy and paste the URL (below) into your signature, then remove the bold X's :D

Grimm's video explains it pretty well too which is linked above. To my understanding the faxes and papers will be sent at the end of the FDA's comment period so it is going along with CASAA's guidelines. I just woke up this morning and saw it on my YouTube and wanted to share because there has been talk about this organization for a few weeks now. This was not meant to cause any turmoil on anyone's behalf, I'm sure more explanation will probably be released in the near future.

Rip Tripper knows how to build coils, how to handle commenting on regulatory deeming regulations not so much.

The freetovape.org website is soliciting personal information and yet whois shows that the sneaky owner of the website chose to hide behind a proxy registration company, Contact Privacy Inc., rather than using their own name or the name of their organization.

Registrant Name:Contact Privacy Inc. Customer 0137428314
Registrant Organization:Contact Privacy Inc. Customer 0137428314
Registrant Street: 96 Mowat Ave
Registrant City:Toronto
Registrant State/Province:ON
Registrant Postal Code:M6K 3M1
Registrant Country:CA
Registrant Phone:+1.4165385457

Also, aside from the issue of heaven only knows who is soliciting personal information for heaven only knows for what reason the page in which one enters this sensitive information is not secure.

If the freetovape site is submitting this information according to FDQ requirements for commenting on the deeming regulations they are robbing people of the right to make any sort of comment to the FDA that has a chance to have any impact whatsoever. People are only allowed to make one comment and the type of information solicited in the freetovape form is suitable for sending to elected officials but does not include the type of information that the FDA will find relevant.

The FDA will totally dismiss out of hand all comments that contain nothing but anecdotal information. While personal stories and experiences can be useful for illustrative purposes the FDA is simply not going to consider anything but factual information from authoritative sources that are very specific to the deeming regulations.

CASAA has long experience as an advocacy organization for vapers. They have an Overview of CASAA's Action Plan Regarding Proposed FDA Regulations. It is a well thought out action plan from an organization run by people who know their stuff.

CASAA has advised vapers to refrain from using their single allowed comment until closer to the deadline for comments. That will give CASAA and vaping vendors critical time to more carefully analyze the FDA's deeming regulations and to assess the impact they will have. That way our comments can be targeted to the specifics of the most harmful of the proposed regulations and CASAA will have time to gather supporting evidence to be included in comments.

If you want to help please join CASAA. It's free although donations are welcome.

Im going to agree with peraspera here I would stay away from freetovape.org website. Doing a little Google-fu there is some disturbing things about the websites owner, Contact Privacy Inc. Aside from the fact the registrar is in Canada, they appear to sell customer info to anyone who's buying.

And, as peraspera mentioned, the page where you put in personal info on the freetovape page is http, not https. No thanks. I will not send my personal info in clear text.

There's an address right at the bottom of the page to write and ask the creators anything you wish.... please do that instead of spreading scuttlebutt and ascribing nefarious intent. This is not the time to be creating factions and infighting... that just plays right into the FDA's hands. However, if you can prove nefarious intent then give your reasoning and links to backup for it instead of what must be deemed "wild," without it, speculation. Let's not engage in fearmongering. Send an inquisitive email and I'm sure the answers will satisfy your concerns.

Edit: This is also the time for all of us to remember that there are "moles" on this forum. Not saying anyone on the thread is one but its something we should all keep at the forefront of our minds right now when emotions are running high. If I were one, part of my scenario would definitely be "divide and conquer."

To be fair, I haven't seen any reference to Contact Privacy Inc. actually 'selling' user information.

I have, however, found dozens of links to sites that utilize CPI as a shelter for their scams/spam. Could they go hand in hand? Possibly. Just google:

"Contact Privacy Inc." sells consumer name

Since people that we know and value have said to hold on signing up, I would take that at face value. The players involved with CASAA et al are well known in the community, and regardless of the good intentions of the new site, it's something we should take into account.

CASAA has not yet commented on this/vetted/supported/whatnot, folks are holding off because of some concerns that have been brought up:

Holy crap, you're paranoid as hell.

You are allowed to make as many comments as you like from everything I'm reading at The Importance of Public Comment to the FDA

I've looked up a few instances of public comments for past FDA proposals as well, and the public were instructed that adding additional comments was "as easy as just repeating the same process with your additional comments."

In fact, if you have followed CASAA's CTA #1 and #2 so far, you have already submitted TWO comments.

Indeed though, the anecdotal stories are not what the FDA is looking for. Big deal, they toss it.

It's important to note that your comment "chance" isn't spent or wasted. Just do it again for the FDA the right way. Follow the instructions on what they are looking for in that link I left above, or wait for CASAA to tell you pretty much the same thing.

Links to studies, and arguing points specific to the regulations are the only thing the FDA are looking for. They also flat out asked questions in the deeming regulations they want the public to answer during the public comment period.

Either way, there is no harm in filling out the freetovape form.

More tin foil hats eh?

Your name, state, town, and zip code is small potatoes. This kind of info is available anywhere. Remember phone books? Come on...

The worst aspect I see is giving away your email, and if you're not familiar with opening up new email accounts for this kind of thing, well now you are. I opened up a new email account when I signed up for ECF. Shocking, I know.

What has ECF been doing with my info?

Regardless, not sure if this was up on the site yesterday, but it's clearly there today:

They seem to be listening to any feedback and correcting it. This is clearly a very well intentioned effort, a great idea, and makes it easy for the mass amounts of people who are too lazy to get involved, effectively and actually involved.

A physical fax is 10x more effective than an email. Hand delivering physical notes to the FDA? Wonderful.

Once more, we don't know what the faxes being sent to congressmen, or what the papers to be delivered to the FDA will look like. Maybe not so cookie cutter and form like, eh? Maybe they just look like, well, plain old printed out letters.

Sorry nay-sayers, in a world of Ralphs/Albertsons/CVS discount cards and FACEBOOK, this is such a stupid thing to put the tin foil hat on and get paranoid about.

And whomever brought up the NSA... holy crap..... REALLY??????

Freetovape's one slight flaw is yes, while your representative may indeed be more affected by anecdotal personal testimonials, the FDA is looking for specifics and answers to specific questions. Again, big deal. Fill this form out, and submit more comments when CASAA gives you the specific talking points in a few days/weeks through the regulations.gov site.

All comments accepted will be sorted through. Irrelevant ones tossed, relevant ones published to the internet. Comment to your hearts content. The more the merrier.

Cheers
