Okay, I think i'm ready for my first (kinda) mech. Thanks to help from guys on here. Particularly Baditudes blogs and battery research from Mooch. Spent the cash I had on 2 litres of nic today so i'm gonna wait till next month and get my pegasus, VTC 4s', my machinist friend to drill some extra vent holes and my dmm. Can't afford a Fluke atm. Are there any other cheaper multi-meters that you guys would recommend just to get me through safely? Don't mind if it's not spot on for resistance because I can use my checker or regulated devices. Thanks.

USA Ohm Readers make really good ohm readers.

Which Pegasus mod? The "faux hybrid top cap" mech mod like below or the Kanger Pegasus?

Cowtown, USA. Where the West begins.
I advise against a DMM as a primary resource for measuring coil resistance. They are not particularly accurate below 1 ohm unless you are going to spend some serious coin, like $500 for US made. If you can't afford a Fluke-- I have an 87 and a 287, they are excellent pieces-- I suggest you buy one from USAOhmmeters as @Susan~S recommends. The "Ultimate" model is what I have; $27 plus ship, and that's the meter I use for coils, while the two Flukes sit in their cases. You can buy a Chinese made, low current, Kelvin probe milliohmmeter for $50-100, if you don't mind waiting for shipment, but it will not be a multimeter and harder to use as it has no 510 connector. The USA people make a model in the $100 range that will take an 18650 and can be used to test fire the coil as well. A 521 Tab is a good alternative and less money for the same job. And do, please, stay away from a mech with no center pin, for safety's sake.

I really like my Chi-Poo. Because i like saying 'Chi-Poo'...

Cheap!!Solid!!

Connections stay put!!

For example: I am using a Line genisis atty. Granted--it is not a 22mm dia topper.( I still think it looks classy tho)

The important thing is SAFETY!!
The 510 on the Line is adjustable. I have the brass contact on the atty screwed all the way down. Screw the atty down onto the mod top cap. Then screw the silver-plated pin to make connection with the atty. Contacts are clean. As are mod threads. And these are a steal from Fasttech.

Locking ring on switch. But i never keep a battery in a mod, unless i am vaping on it.

Out and about, i use Tesla Sub Box. Unregulated two 18650 built in. Short-circuit protection. They don't win any beauty contests, but i run ~1.0Ω gennys, and they last me all day without needing recharging.

My pictures tell a story. My mod needed a rub. I just did that. With some ear-stix and iso alcohol. Took about five minutes. My genisis is piddling around the tank like a geriatric chihuahua with bladder issues.

The point is, tho--this mod, with silver contacts--hits HARD. And it has a center pin. And i use good batteries, and meter my coils. And my silly mods and stories WONT wind up on the evening news :D
