looks like you may want to wrap on a smaller rod. I use 5/64.
It seems like if you use a wider rod it is harder to keep your wraps tight, and the coils like to move around a bit more. wider depends on the gauge of kanthal you are using.. it also depends on how many wraps - more wraps are required to keep the coil stable on larger rods.
You are shooting for a higher resistance than I am, so I'd user a wider rod than 5/64, maybe like 1/8. on a 1/8 drill bit to get to a target resistance of about 1.3ohms, you'd need 12 wraps on each coil (assuming dual micro coil).
