I've been lurking here for quite some time. I quit smoking quite a few times, and always got back onto those nasty things. Now I absolutely love vaping and can't stand the smell or taste of those analogs, on me or other people.
Started on a "rio" (I think? Where I dripped liquid onto cartridges) years ago, batteries died, and I stopped. Plus I knew nothing at the time and the taste got worse and worse. Went back to smoking. Cut down on the smoking, and then started vaping again. Almost a year ago I picked up some Ego's, some different Kanger tanks and loved the Protank 2 and mini (I have quite a few). Soon after I purchased a Provari Mini and have been vaping that bad boy like a king since the day of purchase.
Okay sooo...
Probably a week ago I built my first micro coils in the kanger heads. Holy cow! It works soo much better than the stock heads. Cotton was amazingly smooth... But of course, I had to go further. I purchased my first (and only so far) RDA which is an Atomic, and had some issues getting it to work on my provari. At 1 ohm dual coil, it would only fire between 2.9 and 3.2, which is logical, I understood why. Of course I've had a good understanding of Ohm's law and what not since I purchased my first ego's... I just couldn't get clouds like my friend who knows absolutely nothing about vaping, who has a shop rebuild his heads quite frequently. I've told him recently he really should learn a little bit, but he shrugs it off. *OHHH NO HE'S CLOUD CHASING!* lol
So I bought a Sentinel a few days ago. I pushed it a bit far for the battery (18350 purchased with the provari, the shop told me do not go under 0.7 on it... so....) going 0.7 dual coil... But the vape was soo much smoother, thicker... I loved it, but still not enough.
So today I stopped at a smoke shop to checkout what batteries they had (the vape store is a 20 min drive away) and googled all of the batteries they had available. The only one with enough AMP was the MNKE 1500, so I snagged one... They had a 10 amp with more MAH, and something else as well... Rebuilt with less and larger coils, sitting at 0.55 dual coil atm. This thing is blowing me away.
I feel like I sort of rushed into this, although I've done hours upon hours of research watching videos and reading threads? Is there anything I've missed that I should be aware of? I'm probably just worrying a bit much because of all the warnings I see everywhere.
My sub-ohm setup atm is: Sentinel MIG, MNKE 1500, 0.55 Dual coil on my Atomic RDA.
I'm constantly pulling the battery out and checking... No heat. I had a strange dry hit an hour ago, freaked out and put the RDA on an ohm tester. Everything's fine... I'm also using a multimeter to check the battery voltage to accustom myself with when I should recharge it as I read or saw in a video.
Oh 2 more 2000mah Sony's are on the way to power this setup. Just had to add that =P
I'll still use my provari and protanks with microcoils, but I just can't put this thing down (although I can only take a few short puffs at a time, since all I have is 24MG liquid, LOL). I'm also amazed at how fast the battery drops from 4.2 to 4.0, and I notice the difference quickly... Looks like I'll be swapping batteries regularly when my Sony's arrive.
Anyway, this turned out to be a LOT longer than I first planned. I'm rambling. I'll stop. haha
Is there anything important I've missed? It seems pretty simple to me... More air for lower ohms (ty Atomic) match your battery with the ohm levels, be careful not to short, and keep the device locked when its not being used... But then again, comparing the average person to my buddy who's running a low ohm similar setup and knowing nothing, I guess I am a bit knowledgeable.
