I agree with the ribbon Kanthal, just love the stuff. No hot spots and vapes great.

I'm wrapping my 4th coil with 28g... 5/4 wrap, nice thick 400 mesh wick, oxidized at the top... I'm trying for 1.0 but even with 5/4 I'm getting .9 which is fine i guess ( i usually get blackness entering the juice tank after the wick breaks in from the burnt sweetness of Pluid, and I was thinking a little higher would not char the juice so much)....
Problem is the top coil... ALWAYS red and with pulsing it eventually pops!
Should I try another wrap? 6/5?

Even the sloppiest coil in the world will fire evenly before you insert the wick, so that means nothing really.
As long as you do the drillbit method with a drillbit that fits exactly in the wick hole, and a wick that also fits just exactly, you should be able to just pulse until you have a evenly glowing coil.

Personally I find the 28 the easiest to work with.

Did another 5/4 with 28 and pulse the heck out of it with a 3.6 v batt (18650 IMR)... funny thing is this time the meter reading was 1.1 and then 1.0 after I cut the wire close to the post and neg screw....
I wonder if I'll eventually get this right, but it is a lot of fun once you get to vaping... :)

and yes, the 1.0 is bit smoother ... lots of vapor, nice long draws, smoother taste... hopefully it won't turn black so soon... the juice.

Maybe you should try a battery with less of a charge when pulsing, that way you'll avoid snapping the wire. And start pulsing very carefully at first. I've yet to snap a 28. I usually do 4/3 wraps for 0.7/0.8 ohm and it does not burn the Pluid for me. It could be your wick not wicking fast enough.

Just like the 30g is better in every way compared to the 32g wire...the 28g wire is better in every way compared to the 30g wire. The only problem with the 28g wire is that you need a decent mechanical device to get to its full potential. If you tryto use it with VV devices it won't vape well....at least not to its full potential

Well not with you average vv device but I use a Saber Touch high power VV it will handle up to 25 amps and it hits like a mechanical. So I can run at 4.2 volts much longer than a mechanical device. I highly recommend it. :vapor:
