The first thing you want to try is cleaning your positive contact apply some noalox or deoxit to the positive contact . No need to take the mod apart until you have at least tried cleaning the contact

ok ill give that a try. probably just a really small amount right? I bet there are some videos on that. Ill give it a look when i have some time tonight.

I had a very similar issue as you do OP, sometimes it would fire, sometimes not. LP with new 510 connection, purchased late Feb. mine was the fire pin, the little curl on the very tip was broke off. You could see it without taking the delrin cover off, just take batt out & press fire button, bingo! I did not "think" i was a button masher, apparently i am/was! Hope you can figure yours out!!

I dont have a video yet on cleaning the gold contacts Take a q tip and some alcohol clean the positive contact were it makes contact with your battery . If it was really dirty I would recommend using a white pen eraser followed by a q tip and some alcohol apply noalox or deoxit to the positive contact and you should be good to go . Have you used any of the noalox that came with the mod since you got the mod ?

well i have cleaned it thoroughly inspected the firing pin and applied a bit of noalox and it seems to be working good and very consistently. I am convinced that it is user error in some way lol. btw i love reoville and all of you awesome peeps, and especially Rob for making an awesome mod that is so easy to take apart and do a bit of maintenance on. Every thing seems to be working as it should. Thanks for all the help reopeople!

Sounds like you had a dirty mod  all the people that talk about spinning the battery and that fixing that is what your issue is. You have oxidation on your firing pin and or battery. As Rob said first thing first clean the fire pin and the battery top. Don't sand either one. Just an eraser alcohol and noalox is all you need.

oh kewl, thanks. All I'd heard about were white ones, but didn't know if there was something special about those.

Who knows some smart geek may come and give a reason but all I know is its working just fine for me. Like Rob I run about 1 ohm and clean once a month.

I'm guessing the white erasers are recommended because the erasers like you will find on a regular pencil, are abrasive. Abrasive is bad, it will soon wear the gold plating off the firing pin.

I've always kept mine with a tiny dot of Noalox and have not had any need to do anything other than wipe it off and reapply. I want to get some of the DeOxit, but haven't got around to it yet, plus I've got a 300 year supply of Noalox at the rate I'm using it.
