Huh. Mine seems to have plenty of power. The eleaf istick 30w is versitle, compact, lightweight, and unless you want to produce cumulus clouds, has plenty of power.
Because regardless of what you have the iStick watts set at, with a .5Ω coil, it is sending 3.7v which means 28 to 30 watts all the time. It is incapable of firing below 3.7v.

Good point, I didn't think about that. I'm interested in trying the new coil just to see how it compares in my istick 30. I have a few more powerful devices either way.

I'm using the new coil in my istick as I type this, I can't complain. At 25 watts it is giving some pretty heavy clouds, in the subox kit I keep it wround 35-40 watts and prefer it in that range but it's certainly not a tootle puff at 25

Are you sure about that?

Yes. It does not have true step down, unless there has been some improvement recently. When you ask it to regulate below 3.7v it switches to PWM. So it is still firing 3.7v, but it is doing it by pulsing the power. It is telling you what it is supposed to be doing by displaying the 2.8v, but it is not doing it like say a Vapor Shark rDNA40 would do it, that does have true step down.

Here, PB explains it much better with graphs and charts. Skip to 22:45 for the technical stuff.

That makes sense, I think I can actually feel it pulsing when I puff on it at those settings. I generally vape at a wattage that puts it above 3.7 so I never really thought about how it stepped down.

Hello all

Ive been reading a lot about the istick 30w box mod. I'm a relatively new vaper and I have a few questions.

1. Does it require certain heads? I currently use a BDC cause of money limitations and find the simplicity a nice bonus aa well as the good taste I get.

2. Does 30w require a special type of coil? I notice a trend with the iStick and sub ohm threads.

3. Any issues known to the model? All I read is good about the model but is it that perfect?

4. Why exactly is it so popular?

Sorry for the noobish questions but as I said, I don't want to blow £30 on a battery that requires a lot of specialist gear.

My first box mod is the one im still using which is the Istick 50w. I got it because i wanted to venture into sub-ohm vaping with the Atlantis tank, and couldn't do that with my ego batteries. It has been really great to me ive had no issues with it thus far. When choosing your first box mod think about what type of tank and setup you are going to use. I started with a nautilus mini, and now im using a Atlantis and i have a few RDA's on order. Make sure you get a box with enough watts to handle any type of tank upgrades. I still use my Mini on my istick at 14 watts, but i know i have enough watts on the device to handle my Atlantis and more. If you even think you might venture into sub ohm vaping it might be better to spend a few extra bucks on the 50w. That way you can still use tanks that operate at lower watts and will be able to handle any expansion without having to buy another box. Im getting close to considering a 100w box mod now.

Good luck!!!

I have experience with the iStick50. No issues for me and it's not that much more to have some future proofness. But if all you are truly going to use it for is your current clearos, then it's overkill. The 30 is more than enough to handle that

You might also consider picking up a nautilus mini at some point. They are a nice step up from your current clearos at similar ohms. They produce better flavor and vapor in my opinion and are not as expensive as the sub tanks. It will also work perfectly with the 30.

Lewis if you are using T3 or Evods you can drill out 2 of the airholes in the base to 1/16 inch and boost their performance. You won't be blowing clouds but they are more satisfying. I do that to mine.

It's the clouds that interest me. I get decent ones on my current set up but nothing near the amount I like to surround myself in when I'm at home. I'd still use my current set up for work.

I do also like the idea of being able to upgrade as budget allows by a preliminary investment into a larger watt battery. But as said, overkill and the amount of juice it would eat...
