Ok, so I've finally jumped into rebuildables.
Been reading and watching videos for months, carefully planned my purchases, etc.

Now that I'm finally building, I can't get it to fire.

First off, I'm using a Stingray X, Veritas rda, and Samsung INR18650-29E and 28g Kanthal.

I built the coil with a bit more resistance than I wanted initially, but figured I'd see it through before making another.

Wrapped the 28g 10 times around. 7/64 drill bit (tad over 3mm) and it came out at 2 ohm on the button. Slap the battery in, but nothing happens. Made sure I didn't have any wires touching the deck or crossed coils. Absolutely nothing happens. I screwed a clearo on the stingray and it fires fine.

You see 2.2 ohms on the DMM due to the .2 innate resistance of the probes.

Does the Veritas have an adjustable 510 connector? If so, you may need to back it out a bit to make contact. Or adjust the 510 on the mod up to meet the pin on the atty.

If you are reading ohms on your meter but the mod is not firing it, that means that there is an issue with your connection between your atty and your mod.

Are you using the hybrid adapter or the floating pin top cap?

No hybrid. Just the 510. Not sure if its adjustable. Ill check

Yeah, the 510 connection in the top cap on the Stingray X is floating. I've never had or used a Veritas but there's got to be an issue with its connection to the mod.

Try screwing your atty to your top cap first, then screw the top cap to the body, and finally, add the battery and bottom part. I have constantly had issues with my Stingray X until I discovered this particular order for getting the connection to work with all attys! Good luck!

Will do. Just washed it out to make sure there was no grime on the contacts, so I'm gonna let it dry first.

What I was going to say. I first push on the top contact to get the floating pin all the way up. Then screw in my atty and then put it on the tube. Then I slide in my battery and screw on the switch.

Ok, screwing it in sequentially definitely helped, but tge coils still aren't firing. I'm gettimg somethimg up to the atty though. Had a tiny bit of smoke and a burnt smell, but no glowimg coils. Double checked the resistance and its still at 2.0

Thoughts?

No hot spots on the mod and the battery remained cool.

Try screwing that bottom cap a little tighter... I find with a gap of about 1mm, the switch fires flawlessly!

Ya, I've got everything nice and snug. I'm getting power to the addy now, just not the coil. Slight smoke and a burnt smell comimg from the atty.

All wicked up and vaping some Root Beer juice I got from Smokeless in Halifax Nova Scotia a few weeks ago.
Not my favorite, but stoked to get the rig running!

I was going to say to check and make sure that you've got the post screws secured properly. Glad to see that you got it working.

Not getting a ton of vape. Not bad by any means, but not great.

Did I over wick or is it attributed to building 2 ohms?

Pic is misleading. Its wicked through the coil with a small extra wick behind.

I'd lose the wick from behind. The verity gets its airflow from he hand the coil if I remember correctly. That could be part of the reason you get little Vapor. Also the fact that you vaping at about 8 watts on a dripper. I'd try to aim for about 1 ohm if possible and you have the right batteries.
