After lurking here for several weeks, reading all the trials and tribulations people have had with coil building, I finally took the leap myself last night. Three coils, countless cotton balls, medicine tasting vapor and lots of Provari errors later, I finally hit the sweet spot and am in vaping heaven! I vaguely remember my wife grumbling "Come to bed, it's 3 a.m. and you have to work in the morning!" Nah.
For all those brand new to rebuilding, here are a few tips for your new Russian, any other kayfun-ish mod: 1. Make sure to wash everything before you use it. I soaked all the parts in warm water with OxyClean for a couple hours, rinsed them and let them dry. Much better! 2. You may have to adjust the center pin screw to get good contact with your mod. I was getting errors and was thinking it was my coil the whole time. 3. Too much wick is worse than not enough wick. Be conservative with your cotton.
The funny thing is, I had seen all these tips several times on this forum before I started, but I managed to forget them all in my excitement to get building, so I had nobody to blame but myself. (I think part of me subconciously likes to make mistakes and learn from them)
Thanks again for all your advice and tips! Part of me wishes I had paid more attention to them... but then again, part of me really enjoyed the learning experience of experimentation.
