So after going through a lot to get the screws out of my IGO-L (replaced the screws and all is well), I managed to wrap a 2 ohm coil, wicked with rayon. It was a serious pain to capture the leads under the screws, but once they were in all was well. Glows evenly from the middle out. Took a while to get the rayon in right, but again once it was the "right" amount, it went in and seemed just like all the videos I've watched. I thought I'd never be able to rebuild, but this first build has me optimistic.

I did seven wraps of 30 gauge on a 2mm screwdriver. The calculator said it would be around 1.8-1.9 ohms, so I'm taking 2 ohms as a total success. I've been vaping on it for about a half hour and it's just going perfect. Nice flavor, plenty of vapor. The airflow on the IGO-L is really tight, so I may have it drilled out a bit, but I'm certainly enjoying it as is.

Pretty exciting. I can't manage to take a picture that's focused unfortunately, hands are too shaky and the phone doesn't want to focus on anything in the foreground, only the background. This is as close as I could get to focused, not great!

I have an IGO-W4 waiting to be built, and my Infinite Magma showed up yesterday so I need to clean it out (warm soapy water and a toothbrush enough?). Stingray X will be here on tuesday so I'll be trying to build the magma for it, maybe 1 ohm to start with? (samsung 25r)

I use to use the igo-L all the time and loved it. I now use it for testing flavors. It is a wonderful feeling to wrap your own coil. I find it very rewarding. I will say that my coil was a bit more centered between the posts. But I am sure if you checked it that that does not matter. No hot legs or anything. As long as it glows from the center out you are in good shape. Have fun.

Yep, the IGO-L seems like a nice enough budget RDA, I certainly won't be throwing it away when I step up to the Magma this week. I wasn't able to center the coil very well because the legs were a little long after spending quite some time getting them trapped under the screws. I moved it to make sure nothing was touching and it was close enough to the airflow to get good air. Still testing fine, no shorts and still reading 2.0 on the meter - and vaping very nicely!

Now I just hope it wasn't a fluke, and that my next coil works too :)

I really did find they get easier. When you get a bit of confidence, it just seems to go smoother with less nervousness. Look forward to seeing what you do next. My next build, I've got some readyxwick to try and I am excited. I love rayon and KGD but I have read some good comments on this stuff.
