So I've been vaping for almost three weeks now and all I have to say concerning the learning curve is, wowo! I'm having so much fun learning this new addiction.

I've heard about this "burnt taste" that happens after you use an atty for a while. I thought I had found it. After i drip and vape a few clouds i could taste a slightly unpleasant flavor that could be described that way. I just got some now liquids tonight and was sitting does not try them out. Drip drip drip. Mmmmm. Vanilla. Not bad. Drip drip. Mmmmm Honey. Little sweet. Drip drip. Ummm. That kinda tastes funny. Lemme really pull on this thing to see if this liquid is bad...

GOD! YUCK! BLAH!

HOLY:censored: BATMAN!

Tried a couple different liquids and it's definitely the atty. Hello burn taste! I love learning.

I've had this absolutely gross experience lately as well, I'm chucking it up as new user syndrome. I thought I killed 4 attys from running them too dry and just set them to the side, thank god I have quite a few extras. Just tried HighPings cleaning method, and holy crap, the taste is gone and they perform better than new. I strongly suggest trying it out.

Burnt taste can come from a few different places...

The first and most obvious is that not enough juice is getting to the atomizer.
That could be for a variety of reasons.

Sounds like you're dripping, so wicking shouldn't be an issue.

The second reason is that an atomizer has too much gunk built up on it.
The Highping dry burn will get rid of that gunk and make it work like new again.

But if that was the problem, you'd be getting it with all your juices.
Unless most of your juices have strong enough flavor to cover it up.

And of course, it could be you have some bad juice there.

How much juice do you go through in a day?

I use about 2ml a day. So, here's an update on what i'm experiencing. I got this burnt tire mixed with dead people taste so i changed atties. I used the new atty for one day. Getting that taste from the new atty. I drip...vape maybe 5 or 6 clouds on it. the burnt taste starts but the vapor keeps comming in clouds. The vapor is very "dry" tasting and lacks flavor. I noticed the new atty (keep in mind, used for one day) was pulling hard so i blew in it through the threaded end and it felt like something "hard" was in there, like a gooey plug is the only way i can explain it. any thoughts?

Tons of vapor, burnt taste = not enough ejuice
Dry burn, boil attys. Tons of post on cleaning attys.
All else fails - change a new atty. These things aren't gold.

That is exactly what is supposed to happen.

There is nothing unusual here, you just need to drip more often.
Once you get that "dry" taste and lack of flavor, you have to put in more drops.

In fact, you are already one drag past where you should have put in more drops.
:)

Every time you get that "dry" or burnt taste, you are baking gunk onto your atomizer.
Bake enough gunk onto the atomizer and it will start to taste burnt all the time.

And then you have to clean it using the Highping dry burn...

OMG THANK YOU! Actual experienced information about what i'm doing wrong. YES! Only think is it seems like if i drip when i get the taste i'll flood the atty cause i haven't vaped enough of the liquid yet. I'm only able to get in 2 drops after the burnt taste and that still get a bit of a gurgle... am i still on the right track? (using 801 fyi)

How long do you take between these drags?
The atomizer needs a bit of time to absorb the drops.

Not long though, really, maybe just 15 seconds or so.

is there anywhere here i can see what the inside of an atomizer looks like? i think it'd help me to understand mroe of the mechanics of how i can vape better.
Your right, it most definitely helps.

The main part is the atomizer coil.
It heats the juice and causes it to vaporize.
It also is where baked on gunk accumulates as well.

That baked on gunk, after awhile, will prevent it from heating your juices properly.
The buildup of it will also potentially cause your atomizer coil connections to snap.
And that would be the REAL and TRUE end of your atomizer.
:(

The atomizer coil is surrounded by a ceramic bathtub where the juice hopefully resides.
But not too much juice, or it's flooded.

Below the ceramic bathtub is a winding of mesh, like the atomizer bridge.
It holds at least four drops in my estimation, if not more.

The juice is pulled from there to the ceramic bathtub when you inhale.
And from there it gets vaporized, based on the heat the coil provides.

That mesh below the bathtub can get clogged with dried juice.
So just about any random cleaning method works for that.

But the coil, over time, gets baked on gunk that can only be burned off.
Nobody has found much of anything that can get that stuff off really, other than a dry burn.
Except for maybe ice cube maker cleaner I guess.

The bridge, which is also a metal mesh, serves to bring juice to the wick.
And the wick is supposedly a silicon type threading that brings juice down for use.

Hope that's right, and hope that if it is that it helps.
:D
