Hi all! Just wanted to write a quick report for any interested noobs, lurkers, researchers, etc.
I got interested, read large amounts of this forum, and put in an order with heaven-gifts. The idea was for a 905 starter pack for me and my wife to share (to begin with), and a 510 starter kit for my sister as a xmas/bday pressie.
Unfortunately I opened my big mouth, and since then we've all been getting more and more carried away. In the 6 days since I ordered, my sister has ordered a whole bunch of stuff for herself (and is putting in another order as I write), my sister-in-law and her mother have both put in separate orders, and my wife and I have made another large order yesterday, and my mother wants an order tomorrow. And we want/need some more bits and pieces too! 8-o Thankfully HG has free shipping to Oz at the moment!
Today the first package arrived - the 510 and 905, 4 x 10ml juices, and some empty carts. Great service from heaven-gifts, order dispatched within a few hours, and arrived in 6 days. No probs with Australian customs or xmas mail. Package was smaller than expected - and everything in it was smaller than it looks on the web!
Easy to assemble - both units came with fake carts with no stuffing in them. Threw them aside, put on one of the 18mg (high strength) freebie carts, screwed on the attys, and away we went. Both units had enough battery charge to start with, and we got the 2nd batt for each model charging straight away. We had none of the potential issues we'd read about, both units just worked perfectly from the start.
Then it was time for the first drag - been waiting for weeks for this moment! Initial thoughts ... Oh Yeah! This is going to be alright. Taste is nice, vapour is good, I like this! All in all it's pretty close to smoking, closer than I thought it would be. So glad because we've invested all this money and spread the idea round without really knowing how good it would be.
For the last 12 hours the 3 of us have been on and off hitting the 2 x 510's and the 905. We've tried all the flavours we got, and have spent quite a few hours trying different techniques to get the most out of the hardware.
Flavours - best to worst general consensus between the 3 of us:
555/5*5 - nice tobacco flavour, we all like it lots
MBL marlboro - freebie, slightly sweet tobacco (could get too sweet?)
Turkish blend - nice tobacco, slightly heavier flavour, equally liked to MBL
Freebie carts (generic, tobacco) ok
Strawberry - too sweet
Menthol - sweet, v. disappointing for my sister, a menthol analog smoker
My sister hasn't had an analog in 6 waking hours - aside from on planes this never happens. My wife and I have had 2 analogs each in the last 12 hrs - we would normally have had maybe 5-6 (rollies) each. Having ordered 40ml juice total for the pair of us in the first order, we might not have enough to get thru till the 2nd order arrives anyway. That's something to think about when placing your first order - get plenty of juice and some spare attys in case you love it completely and instantly convert!
For rollie smokers 5-15 per day, the 18mg (high) is quite strong - after 15 mins of playing with our new toys we were getting light headed and had to put them down for an hour or so. I'd say that the 12mg would suit us better as an every day vape. The problem is that you just keep wanting to play with the new toy some more, take another hit... and another.. and so I've spent most of the day on a bit of a nicotine buzz. Tomorrow I'll try a no nicotine cart in the 2nd 510..
Initial reactions to the hardware are that the two 510's are quite different - one is making much more vapour and flavour than the other. The one making the most is the one that we used for the first few hours. We think it's a matter of breaking in the 2nd atty and that it will pick up hopefully.
The good 510 puts out as much vapour as the 905 (maybe slightly more flavour even)... but we have emptied 3-4 battery charges with the 510s in 12 hrs. The 905 is a complete trooper in comparison, it's still going on the shop charge that it came with.
Interestingly, both the girls were quite definite up until today that they wanted their e-cigs to be elegant and cigarette-like. However after just one day they both like the 905 a lot - in fact I think my sister has just ordered one and my wife wants to pinch mine! It fits the hand well and the extra weight is nice.. somehow it has more character?
I have felt a kind of weight or irritation to the throat a few times today, nothing much but definitely a different feeling to normal (analog) smoking. I'll be watching to see if that gets more or less. I think we were pushing things today, trying to get as much vapour as possible, taking bigger drags than normal, etc.
Lastly as a first-poster I wanted to say thanks to everyone for making such a lively and enthusiastic forum, we wouldn't have got into vaping without being able to do all the research and hear all the stories from people. Big appreciation to DonDaBoomVape for putting together the illustrated guide - a great resource - and to everyone else for contributing.
