I'm still fairly new to this as well but have plenty of time each day to play with vape stuff. If I'm shooting for zero visibility fog I go for a very low ohm dual coil in my dripper with 100% VG however if I'm looking for flavor I go with a 2.3 ohm micro coil in my ProTank 2 with a 50/50 blend, both on mechanical mods. I don't even bother getting my 100% VG flavored any more and only 6mg nic in it.

It was the higher ohm I'm sure. Ribbon wire is great, I use it on my zatty single coil and flavor is much better than regular wire.

The issue I was having with the ribbon on this dual coil setup was that i couldn't fit enough wraps to get out of the sub ohm range. Regular wire let me fit 12 wraps to increase the ohms.

At least that's my theory. I'm still relatively new to all this.

Just go with a thinner wire man. I use .4 and .5 in my smaller rda's.

Wanted to post one last update incase any other noobs happen across this thread.

Went to the store and picked up some 28 gauge round and proceeded to rebuild again. Took a massive 16 wraps around my syringe needle to get to 1.6 ohms per coil (.8 after dual coil).

By far the best vape ive ever had. Getting massive clouds and my mouth is literally watering with flavor.

The 16 wraps give as much surface area as I was getting with the ribbon, but for some reason I dont understand performs so much better.

So try out that build if you like. Dual coil, 16 wraps of 28 round on a syringe for .8 ohms. Cotton threaded through the coils and folded over to create a bed under them as well. Comes out to 20 watts at 5 amps. Just amazing.

Getting big flavor to go along with those big clouds is not impossible at all. Ive got three RDAs and two hybrids sitting in front of me at the current moment, and the three RDAs are all below 1ohm. One is a single coil .8, and other two are dual coils around the .3-.33range.

More vapor than a fog machine, and more flavor then even my genesis hybrids are putting out.

Its all about how you set up the coil in relation to the airflow of the particular RDA. Go ask ANY of the ReoGrand/ReoMini users who use their mods with the RM2 atomizer. Instead of a billion different RDAs being used, like the general vaping community, that circle of users largely uses the RM2(not everyone does obviously), and as such, they have learned the ins and out of that RDA very well, and can tell you how to set it up to do whatever you want. Big flavor? More throat hit? More vapor? All easily attainable, simply by adjusting the airflow over the coil.

However, for a much simpler solution, check out some videos on Micro Coils and Nano Coils. Particularly the more involved builds like the dual dragon nano coil. I dont usually build compressed coils, I tend to prefer a regular, spaced coil, but the compressed coils are known to put out tons of flavor, mondo clouds, AND it can all be done above 1ohm, which is where you should be considering you're just starting out with rebuildables. Subohming is great, and can be done safely to enjoy a great vape.. but.. baby steps. Get the above 1ohm coils down first.

    i second this. ^^^

i'm currently running a .20 ohm single coil (yes, you read that correctly) using 22g kanthal round wire with 5 wraps on organic cotton in my trident clone and its the best flavor AND vapor production experience i've had to date...hands down. i'm using sony 30A VTC3 batteries in my astro clone. my trident clone has 2 massive 1/8" airholes and i have no flavor loss vaping 80VG/20PG 6mg juice. i cant stress enough how great the flavor is.

this is the first time im venturing to this low of a resistance and just tried it to see what my experience would be, and i'm not regretting anything at all. regardless of what the naysayers may say. hahaha.
