Hey guys, been lurking and learning for months, first post. Hope someone can help me out with this new build.

6 wrap of .8 ribbon kanthal
Dual Coil
.6 Ohms
AW IMR 18650 2000mah
Trident rda
H100 Mech
AVE Dreamberries 100% VG juice

Clouds are huge, and amazingly smooth. Nothing is burning, and no hotspots are visible. The issue is there is little to no flavor at all. I use this same juice in my provari / z-atty setup and it's very flavorful. Can you take a look at my build, and the pics and see if you can figure out what I'm doing wrong?

Thanks!
-D

Lower the voltage (oh, wait...mech) OK, up the ohms. Too high of heat kills flavor. Also check air flow....but you're getting lots of vapor..so...

1.2 ohm coils at a fresh charge are 14.7 watts per coil. Depending on the wire that may be too hot. spacing the coils may help if you have room.

You're pulling 29.4 watts total for that .6 ohm net build on a fresh charge.

It looks like you are using a lot of cotton. Maybe try lessening it a bit. I only use a bit of cotton for my coils.

what Jazzi said, I been swapping out coils and configurations constantly and ive noticed less is more
when it comes to wick, if I put loads of cotton and juice in I won't get the proper taste till a few hit's
before the wick dry's out, so now on my trident I only use one coil at about 1.2ohms, I raise the coil
aswell so that its to below the top of the posts and inbetween the posts and air hole if that makes
sense, and then I only put enough cotton in so that it hangs down from the coil either side and sits
a little on the deck

Yeah, it does.

What I don't know about (and I'm trying to figure out for future reference) is that...flat wire...and the expected wattage/heat.

In this case he swapped out two 1.2 ohm coils for what he said are now 1.0 ohm coils but also changed the wire at the same time to round wire. And also used less cotton.

Although too-much cotton is common, it usually results in burnt/dry hits and not the "great clouds" he said he was getting. So there's there must be something I'm missing. The less cotton thing doesn't sound like it would give him great flavor all of a sudden...just better wicking....which was OK/satisfactory before.

I think the flatter wire put more heat on the wick per mm. He also had the flat-wraps pretty close.
But I'm guessing here.
Want to know for future.

I am sorry. I was not meaning to undermine your question by any means.

I do agree that flat wire and close coils would (logicaly) produce more heat then round wire. Now you have me wondering the same... I was thinking of getting flat kanthal on my next order but until this question is answered I will just wait...
