ok so i have been looking around for what e-cig to get for my fiancee, she smokes camel wides about a pack a day. she wants to cut back or quit smoking so i told her id look into e-cigs. well im sure glad i found this forum i almost mad e mistake with the green smoke. after reading here for the better part of today i ordered her the joye 510 from liberty flights. got her some of the boge cartomizers also. as well as several different samples of e-liguid. wasnt sure where to start as far as strength so i got a couple different strengths. im really hoping this helps cut back and maybe end up only using this. i also was about to buy "the volt" but they were sold out i may look at those later unless she really likes these. any tips or pointers or anything i went wrong on please let me know.

Hi and welcome to ECF. It looks like you've got the basics covered. About the only things you'll need now are more juice and spare parts. Most people use about 2 to 3 ml of juice a day so figure accordingly. The most popular nic strengths are 18 and 24mg according to a couple of polls here on the forum. It's always good to have an extra atomizer on hand but you've got carto's to cover that for now. I found that with the 510 I was draining the batteries that quickly that I needed a third to keep up so see how it goes and get one later if you need to. Good luck and let us know how it goes.

awesome im so glad i found this forum before i bought. ill definitely look into a few extra batteries and i dont wanna overload on flavors and strengths until she decides what will work for her. after browsing the forum some more im super excited to see how she likes it. i was also considering a pass through but didnt really look very hard for one for the 510, she doesnt sit at a computer all day so it may not be great for her, unless there is one with a long enough cable to plug into our PS3 haha

The PTs are great in a way but often they don't hold up all that well, with button problems and cords going open being fairly common complaints. I recommend putting the money toward a good mod instead. You still have batteries to replace but the expense isn't that bad and you're not tethered to anything.

Did you get manual batteries? (better control of the hit, won't turn on accidentally from wind or vibration, safe from damage by carto leaks). If not, then it would be a good idea to get a manual as a spare.

And the Boges need to be standard resistance. The LR (2.0,2.5) ones can damage a slim battery.

As well, if you are a generous fiance (haha) perhaps she would like the lovely PCC from NoSmokeVA.com (search PCC and the $29-ish thing that comes up is the PCC. I need to remove one "condom" from the carto to fit them in the slots but it is a very nice PCC for standard size 510 batteries. For Mega xl batteries the PCC is a metal less-roomy one.

Nicotine - a general guideline and not right for everyone
full strength 24mg
lights 16-18mg (where I started)
ultralights 10-12mg

I have worked my way down in nic over the months. Some juices - are camel wides non-menthols? If so some similar (Turkish-tobaccoish) juices at FreedomSMokeUSA are Desert Ship, Camtel, Switchblade. Juicy Vapor (I think) has an interesting B52 tobacco which tastes/smells of tobacco and the cocktail B52 (southern comfort , baileys and grand marnier? I forget, been decades since I had those). And Backwoods Brew has Casablanca, a lighter more complex Turkish blend.

dang it i got the 2.0 ohm ones. does it just lessen the battery life? i picked those due to them saying it was the best for tobacco flavors. i just sent an email to get them changed to the 2.5 ohm cartos. thank you so much for the heads up on that. and yes i had read a lot of good things about the manual batteries and figured she wouldnt mind holding a button. and i will look at the PCC for her, i treat her like a damned princess haha only the best for my baby.

this site made it very easy to find what would i wanted to get her. i would have gone with "the volt" had it not been sold out which would have been a good choice from what i have seen. i had the better part of the day to look through the forums to get an idea of what would be good. if it werent for the forums i dont think i would have made the right choice at all!

chan...you need to get 3.0ohm Boge carto's. 2.5ohm is still considered low resistance and can over stress the little 510 batteries. Other than that, you did good ordering her the kit. I think she'll be happy with it. If she gets into vaping, go to liberty-flights.com and order her a Riva or eGo kit. A lot of people use LR's on these batteries but it still stresses the battery but not as much as they will the 510 little batteries.

im glad to see others have benefited from this thread. im really excited to see if the setup will work fro her seems like it should once she gets past the learning curve of it. i will post in here how she is liking it when she gets it, i only hope im home by the time she first tries it so i can show her some of the stuff i have read on here so she doesnt get discouraged. i think one big thing that i did right was getting all different types of e-juice. i got her different strengths and different bases also stuck with tobacco flavors that sounded similar in case she wanted to cut some VG with some PG. i really appreciate all the advice i have gotten from the vets also. i will try the 2.5 catos just cause im stubborn and hate sending things back but will keep in mind the warning i have received about poor battery life. if need be i will get her a few extra batteries or just try another system. hopefully here in the next few days to a week i will be commenting on her loving it and putting analogs down for good. i have also talked to my mum and she said she hated her first e-cig, come to find out she got the green smoke about 2 or 3 years back. i told her id get her something different to try if the one i got works out well.
