I was at the Shell Gas station yesturday and noticed they were selling a model E-Cigg.And replacement cartridges.I mentioned to myself it was interesting to see them. The clerk a lady said oh I use one of those but not that one.I said no kidding so do I.So she grabbed her Blue Cig.I pulled my DSE901 out of my pocket and we started comparing and talking. She was telling me her cartridges didn't cost too much and I told her about dripping.I often wondered when or where or if ever I would meet another Vaporer I guess you would say.Anyway just thought I would share the experience.

After more than a year of vaping I finally happened upon another vaper at a function 2 weeks ago. He was being rather flamboyant about how nobody was going to tell him he couldn't vape inside the building even though he said several employee's had come over to tell him to stop. He said "I just tell them I have a Dr's note in my pocket that says I have to do this to keep my lungs moist". What???? He was so pleased with himself and so displeasing to the employee's there. Even though I know vaping is harmless, and I have vaped at that location myself (very discreetly) he was wrong, wrong, wrong to have that kind of attitude in my opinion.

What a creep! That's exactly the kind of jerk that's going to ruin it for everyone else.

I was outside of my workplace, sitting with a coworker and I had my 510 in my hand. A lawyer and his ladyfriend walking by noticed my 510 and the lawyer pulls out a Blu pack.

He goes 'Is that an electronic cigarette like this one?' as he pulls out the Blu cig. The lady jokingly tells him to stop hitting on me (I'm a smallish asian girl and I look like a teenager).

I say yes it is, it's called a 510, it's from China I think.

The lady tells me she tried the lawyer's Blu e-cig and while it's cute, it's nothing like a real cigarette.

The lawyer told me (in a nice way) something to the effect of 'you should upgrade to the Blu instead of using those generic Chinese ones.'

My coworker is smiling because she knows I initially had the Blu e-cig (was my first, I passed it on to someone) and as I open a bottle of AVE's Irish Cream my coworker says 'Watch this!' to the lawyer.

I put a drop into my 510 (I'm a direct dripper) and I vape a thick, monstrous cloud, I can't even see the lawyer through it - there was no breeze at the time so the vapor was dense. The vapor moves away and the lady goes...

"HOLY S:censored:T!!"

My coworker let out a 'yeehaw' and clapped her hands. Just a classic moment.

The lawyer, with a very serious expression hands me his smartphone, asks me to show him online where I bought this stuff. I bookmark ECF (this site) and tell him "Start here."

I don't know if he joined this site, I haven't run into him last week. I'll ask him next time I see him.

That was my first encounter!

Ourei, that story is priceless, especially since the guy was an attorney. They know everything or at least convince themselves that they do!

Now he will impress all his country club friends with his new found knowledge and sign up 50 more vapers. Maybe one of his new lawyer or judge friends will try a case defending Ecigs one day and be knowledgeable about the product.

Dave,

Haha! I know that lawyer in particular is a pretty nice guy so I'll be happy to help him out with any questions or problems with the e-cigs. I got kind of miffed when the lady put down the Blu e-cig. Just had to show her that analogs are for little girls! :D

I also thought about lawyers visiting this site, learning about the petition and maybe getting involved. I'll be sure to run that by the lawyers that get into e-cigs for sure!

I would love to see another vaper in my area. I think me and my wife are the only 2. I was in the breakroom at work a month or so ago and a coworker came in with a disposable Gamucci and asked me to put it together for her. Apparently, Murphy's gas stations in the Wal-Mart parking lots are selling disposable Gamucci's. They are truly crappy devices. They are always sold out, but I never see anyone using them, nor has she asked me about e-cigs again lol.

I'm not sure if this counts, because neither of us was vaping and I sort of chickened out but...

I went out to dinner tonight with my husband and our two little girls and as we were walking out I noticed an elderly woman I had seen inside the restaurant. She had oxygen tubes in at the restaurant but outside she had taken them out and was having a cigarette with people who I assume were her family. I walked over and handed her a card. She looked at it briefly. One of the men standing there asked if the card was for an electronic cigarette. I said yes, and he said "Oh I use one of those." I said, "Me too." Someone else said "Oh, she's been smoking for 70 years and wants the real deal." She said, "I don't even have a computer." I said "You don't have to buy them online." But here's where I chickened out. I realized they probably thought I was a vendor. She wasn't interested and I said ok. And walked away. I wish I had it to do over. I would have ignored the others and asked the vaper what kind he uses and how he likes it. I would have asked if he reads ECF, and not worried about the naysayers. I wish I would have said you don't have to quit, that it can be an alternative, or a reduction, or something...I don't know. It was my first time telling anyone other than a close family member or a close friend anything about ecigs, so it's a start for me. And maybe for her, if someone else in her family uses one, maybe having a stranger come up to her... maybe she'll think about it later and ask her family member more about it.

coralie, that's a great moment! Making the effort, especially in public, to get someone to quit smoking, and there's always that thought that 'it's not like the real thing" and still you go through the motions. I'm very moved, kudos to you!

I carry a spare drip tip and a bottle of very strong tobacco e-liquid with menthol drops in it. Since most smokers I encounter smoke menthol - I offer them to try my e-cig and they always (and I mean always) get surprised by how strong the vape is, and how weak their cigarettes are afterwards. That squashes the 'analogs are the real thing' very fast.

But, getting these people to actually move on to e-cigs is another story. They'll always just keep saying they should get into e-cigs, but it rarely happens in my experience. I keep trying on my side, like you!

I guess it all boils down to people wanting to really quit analogs, once and for all.

Again, cheers! That's a great moment you described :)

Ourei, Thanks. I was worried about how it went. I butted into something that was none of my business, and then regretted it initially. I did it because I wanted her to know there's a way to experience smoking without pain. I thought, maybe she'd never even heard of such a thing, and I've read some of the stories by women on here who smoked for a long time and were so happy when they found out about ecigs, a real life saver for them in terms of being able to choose a true alternative rather than quit or die.

What you said about getting people to move into ecigs, also totally true. I got my husband, his brother, the brother's gf kits. My husband uses his the most. The other two? I have no idea. I ask how they're doing, if they need any help finding info, resources, how-to's. They are like, no I'm doing ok, I use it sometimes. I'm like, ok. Goodness, what I would have given to have a friend willing to walk me through it, a person I know IRL (in real life) to share, relate, ask questions... oh well. One of the hubs' cousins always says, "Oh you got your electronic smoke there, don't you" and he always wants to try it. He likes it, is happy to see it working for me, but doesn't want to take it further than that. I think he's still in the "I'm invincible" stage and thinks he can quit anytime. Again, oh well. I'm not gonna stop telling people about it, and I'm definitely not gonna stop using it. It rocks my world.

Good for you for trying, that is all we can do. I was sort of thinking I should quit trying because it is eating up a lot of my time and I don't have much free time. If it helps anyone, it is worth it I guess. I have helped 17 people get started vaping but only 3 or 4 have completely quit cigs.

You know, this may sound completly cynical of me... but what if her family members weren't concerned because they were waiting for their inheritance? :nah:

JiveRock - I'm in the same boat as you. The only vapers I know are the ones I have converted. By the way, they are very happy we sat down and had that little "Chat". Only one of them still smokes and that is just one cig a day during his drive to work.

It does feel good knowing we have helped someone find an alternative to tobacco, doesn't it?

I was at a picnic when I saw my first "other vaper". There was a group of three guys puffing on Blus. One of them had noticed my wife and I vaping at our table and asked me what I was using. Their eyes kinda bugged out when I pulled out my BB (it ain't even that big!). The one fella asked "What the hell is that?". I explained to them that the world of vaping is a wide and wondorous place and that they shouldn't get caught up in the flashy advertising. I told them about ECF and gave them some cards from a couple vendors I had on me. I guess I'm one of the lucky few that bought a good e-cig (510) without knowing about ECF or e-cigs in general.
