Hi yous guys! This is my first post to the forums. Been a smoker for about 25 years, since I was 12 or 13. Usually smoke(d) about a cig an hour.

After doing some research, I decided to start e-smokes this week. I received a 510 kit yesterday, as well as a TW tornado kit and some assorted supplies.

The good news is I haven't had a cigarette in nearly 24 hours, and I haven't wanted one. The vaping is getting the job done. I like both the 510 and the Tornado, though I'm favoring the Tornado so far. All of my batteries/atts/etc seem to be functioning well.

Not sure I've found any favorite flavors yet, but I'm really liking the coconut from TW this morning. Most of the handfull of flavors I've tried so far have some kind of synthetic smell/taste that I'm not too fond of.

My biggest problem is that too often the e-smoke makes me cough, which isn't a pleasant experience. It's a scratchy cough at the back of my throat that usually occurs on the exhale. I'm not taking monster hits or anything, in fact compared to most of the video reviewers I've watched for the last week, my drags are pretty short. Vapor production from the Tornado in particular is so good that I probably don't go much over 2 seconds per drag.

I can avoid the cough pretty well by sort of half-inhaling, but without knowing how much vapor I've taken in, I get caught off guard now and then without inhaling deeply at all. Not sure if this is normal or if I may have a problem with PG liquids or what.

Another thing that's bothering me is how the e-smoke is making me feel half-stoned. Is this normal? Most of my liquids are 16-18mg, which I know isn't the highest out there. I'd always been a full-flavor/marlboro smoker so I thought a high nicotine content would be the way to go, but I'm getting a hazy/dizzy feeling buzz that really stays with me like a high, so I think I gotta drop to a medium nicotine content. I'm assuming this effect is from the nicotine, yes?

I've got some other Qs but I'll save them for later, rather than go on too long. Despite the few problems, I'm really enjoying the vaping. Regular smokes do seem pretty filthy now and hopefully I'm off them for good.

Thanks for the forum!

Cut a piece of paper towel the size of the top of your liquid cart and place it on top of the filler & add ONE drop of distilled water. This should last about ten or so drags before you have to repeat.
If this doesn't take care of all of it, when you start to exhale open you mouth like if your going to blow smoke rings and let it out slowly.
Eventually the coughing should stop.

Yes. You need to cut it down.

Hope this helps..........

Hey googabee, welcome to ECF!

Your throat/coughing issue is a very common one which could be caused by your cilia in your throat, nose, and lungs being damaged by smoking. It should resolve on its own in the coming week or so, but you can also try juices with VG to soften the throat hit.

For me, I was able to take big hits after a few days, and the coughing went away completely after a week or two.

You'll have to play around with juices. Everyone has their own preferences. Personally, I would highly recommend FreedomSmokeUSA and Backwoods Brew. I have fantastic experiences with both. They make their juices to order, fully customizable, and you can tell in how they taste.

You may want to try 12mg nic juice. It does sound like what you have now is a touch too high for you. But it does sound like it's only a *touch.* You may find yourself vaping a bit more at 12mg, but feeling nic stoned is no good, so probably worth it.

Glad you're having a relatively smooth start. Vaping is pretty great, eh? :)

Hey jj2, what are the mechanics of how this works? Does it offer any benefit to someone who's already over their newbie coughing fits?
