First kanthal and silica

Need suggestions guys. Going to try my hand at coil making. I plan on ordering 3 sizes of kanthal and 3 sizes of silica just to get started with.

Going to order an Igo-L to start on along with my old protank heads. I was thinking 28,30, and 32 gauge kanthal and 2,2.5, and 3 mm silica.

What sizes would you all recommend?

Hey Mooseman (love that name). I have really gotten into building and I use 28 and 32 gauge Kanthal. I get it from Lightning Vapes - Florida - All the RBA Materials you need! Silica Wick, Ekowool, Kanthal Wire, and more!

As far as the silica, I bought 33 feet from fasttech and I hate that I bought that much because I find that I like just plain o'l cotton. I'm sure someone that knows a lot more than me will come along and help ya, but the cotton is doing it for me.

Looks like you got it covered except you might wanna go with some 1.5 mm silica instead of the 2mm for more flexibility in your builds .

So... 1.5,2.5, and 3 mm silica and 28,30, and 32 gauge kanthal. Anymore thoughts for a newb?

Edit: I know this sounds like a silly question, but when I get the supplies I want to have several different sizes so I don't get into and am like "dang, wish I had gotton ...."
Know whut I mean?

I would just go with 28 and 30ga Kanthal and add a bag of organic cotton. 28 and 30ga should get you where you want to be in ohms unless you're wanting to get in the mid 2s and up then you'd probably need 32ga and many find they prefer cotton when they get started. Cotton combined with a micro coil makes things much easier over the long haul, just have to replace the cotton when needed rather than a complete new build.

Thank you everyone for your responses! I probably will try cotton, but I figure I can get it at the pharmacy, so while I'm ordering wire I want to order some silica as well.

My builds are going to be on an innokin iTaste vv v3 so I won't be going any lower than 1.5 ohm. Should I still skip on the 32 ga.?

For protank heads, 2mm wick works fine.
