Just two weeks ago I moved from eighteen mg to twelve and as of two days ago I started vaping at six mg of nicotine. Only went to six because I just started building my own coils that same exact day and even six is too strong for me. Am I building my coils wrong I am using 30 gauge kanthal with 3 mm silica wick and wrapping it about three times. I drilled out the airhole on ny igo l to 1/16.what am I doing wrong guys?

Did you change anything else (especially juice)?

Only other thought right off the bat is if the air hole is away from the coil, you can generate massive throat hit, enough to make you cough. Maybe when you built your own coil, you don't have it right over the air hole (or facing the air hole if the hole is on the side). Try moving the coil closer to the air hole and see if the vape smooths out.

I'm using efest batteries in my kts mechanical mod and an igo l rba. My airhole is right on top of the coil and I'm using 50 50 blends...also even when I clean it out and build a new coil it still tastes a bit like the last juice I was dripping with it. And I check for hot spots and don't see any... It's fine on my vamo but not on my mech.

Are you getting a burnt taste from your RBA? Without more information my guess would be a hidden hotspot on your coil.

Have you tried different juices and do they all make you cough?

Can you vape another device without problem?

Which RBA and mod are you using?

The IGO-L is a nice little RDA. I have three...love 'em.

Some flavors tend to linger and don't disappear right away even with a good cleansing so I wouldn't worry about that (I tried a buddy's RY4 with one of my SS drip tips and it was two days before I stopped tasting it...even after cleaning the heck out of it...which is why I have three IGO-Ls).

Odd that you don't cough using the Vamo. I would think it would be the other way around due to the Vamo's pulse modulation.

Dang...It still sounds like you've got a hotspot somewhere. Any chance it's on the bottom of the coil or on one of the legs maybe hidden by a screw? The legs are the usual suspects...they need to be the same length or one just gets too hot.

What ohm is your coil and what voltage are you vaping at on the Vamo? Could be your mechanical is a bit too much for it at it's current voltage level.

My ohm level is any where from one Point one to one point thre and I use it at about three point five volts. And maybe I'm not building it at the same length? Idk lol I didn't know that made a difference.

What do you mean "It's fine on my vamo but not on my mech."?

Do you think it's too warm, or too cool on the mech? You said 3.5 volts... so that's the vamo.

The fresh battery on the mech is 4.2 volts. It drops quicly to around 3.7 volts and stays in the 3.6 to 3.7 volt range for most of the vape.

However, mech mods have some internal resistance too. Thus, the 3.7 is battery in the mech may "see" different ohms at the coil than the vamo. And they are different voltages.

So
A) Use your multimeter and check the internal resistance of your mech mod. If you don't have a multi-meter, get one. You shouldn't use a mech mod without one, IMHO.
B) Add the internal resistance to the ohms of your coil. (maybe be zero).

C) You're using 30 ga wire. That's thicker diameter wire than normal wire (but less than the 28 ga wire the SLR people use). Thus it may take more watts to heat it effectively.

Poor vape can be too hot OR too cool. Poor vaporization is harsh too.

Be safe with that mech mod and use a meter every time.

Just some thoughts.
